3rd's POV

The brunet was seen silently standing in front of the desk of the president of the Armed Detective Agency when his co-workers suddenly barged their way inside the room of the director's office.

Most of them have a grave and anxious expressions written all over their faces.

President Fukuzawa took a preparatory sigh before looking at his subordinates. "What's with everyone coming in my office unannounced?"

The blond detective cleared his throat and stepped in to answer. "We apologize for causing disturbance at your office, president. We just heard that Dazai came back..."

"Yes. We just have finished talking." The middle-aged man shortly informed. He stood up on his chair and glanced at his colleagues. "It's a good thing that you are all present. Dazai has an announcement to make." Fukuzawa eyed at the former detective signaling him to speak.

Dazai made his way towards his co-workers and took a deep breathe. "This will be my last day working. I'm formally resigning as an employee of the Armed Detective Agency. It's been four exciting years doing detectives with you. I'm grateful for the time and memories I shared with everyone." He candidly stated.

The confusion and disbelief of the people inside the room were apparent that it took them some time to process what the formerly detective has just said.

"Just hold it right there, Dazai!" The agency doctor was the first to react and sprinted towards the brunet." What utter nonsense are you blabbering about? Would you stop joking around and give us a clearer view. I have to let you know that I have bet to win. " Yosano crossed her arm demanding an explanation.

The beanpole faintly smiled and shook his head. "I'm serious, sensei."

"Exactly my point!" The bob-haired lady blurted out and pointed her finger towards her unreasonable co-worker. "You were never serious!"

The blond detective coughed and narrowed his eyes at his partner. "Sh*tty Dazai, is this one of your crazy antics again? Coz believe me, we're not buying it. We are still in the middle of an unsolved case. We don't have time for your shenanigans."

"Wh--what?" Dazai stilled for sometime and blinked in quick succession. It's a given. They all think that this is just a prank he's pulling. "Eh! Why can't you guys believe me?!" The beanpole can't helped but whined.

"You're always fooling and teasing your co-workers. It's no wonder, they think this is all a farce." The beret detective finally interceded. "I don't have anything against you leaving, however..." Ranpo opened his eyes revealing those emerald gems. "...these people deserve to hear the reason."

The brunet resumed a neutral expression and faced his fellow workers. He glanced briefly at the wall clock. Just a couple of minutes and the old commander will be here shortly to escort him back.

The Demon Prodigy needs to make his message simple and short. He doesn't have enough time left.

"I'm leaving the agency to take care of some personal matters. The president already gave me his permission. I just need to go back to the dorms and get my things."

"Taking care of personal matters is what exactly, Dazai-san?" The confused weretiger asked his mentor. For all he knows, this is just a plain white lie. He refused to believe it.

"Is this regarding Nakahara-san?" The former math teacher narrowed his eyes on the brunet. To everyone's surprise, he hit the mark. His partner silently nodded. Kunikida massaged his temple. "Look, here you insufferable b*stard...we thought we are in this together. You even gave the mission a lousy nickname. What's 'Operation Chibi' when you're going on solo, you ass?!"

"I returned to the Port Mafia." Dazai answered gravely. "I need Mori to get Chuuya back."

"F*ck! I really don't get how you're mind works! You always act like this!" The idealist bolted in frustration.

A wave of shock crossed over their faces. All were devastated to hear the news of the brunet's departure.

The straw hat kid was the first to recover and rushed to give his opinion. "Dazai-san, I don't think Chuuya-san will like this. He--he'll be--"

"He'll be enrage for sure. I already know that, Kenji-kun." The beanpole fondly smile and completed the sentence.

"Chuuya-san will blame himself." The ex-mafioso silently stated.

The executive's face became dark and unreadable. "I had an inkling he will, Kyouka-chan."

"What will you do when that happens?" The twin-tailed girl posed the question and looked directly at the former detective.

Dazai made a knowing smile and shrugged. "I'll try my best to explain it to him...hopefully without getting killed by his insane ability."

"I--I'll be sure to protect you from Ren, Dazai-san!" The tiger lad clenched his fist and suddenly exclaimed, making his mentor bursted into laughter.

The suicidal enthusiast tapped his protege's shoulder. "I'll be in your care then."

The orange-haired detective scratched his head and lightly chuckled. "I don't really have anything much to say. I just hope and pray that you get to reconcile with Nakahara-san. Also...if I'm on your shoes, I'll also do every possible way to get back someone important to me. I respect your decision, Dazai-san."

A genuine smile graced the beanpole's lips and winked at the young ginger. He furtively glanced at the young dark-haired lady who's hands were wrapped around the arms of her beloved brother. "I know you will. After all...we share the same interest when it comes down to that."

Tachihara  immediately turned beet red and faced away. Naomi who was just in shock processing the things she's been hearing somehow noticed the abrupt changed on her brother's countenance. She hastily bombarded the older some questions which for the sake of our innocent ears won't be detailed here.

Meanwhile, the other youngsters strode towards their former detective and started flooding the brunet about his plan of rescue and all.

With all the drastic changed of events, the lady doctor just sighed and rolled her eyes. She silently went towards the greatest detective who were now on the side of the agency president, munching some potato chips. The two were pretty much in their own world, conversing animatedly with each other.

"Hey, you two...aren't you going to say anything? Like, anything at all?"

The middle-aged man lifted his shoulders and answered in his calmest voice. "It's Dazai's decision. Who am I to stop it?"

Yosano huffed and raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you going easy on him, President? What would you do if he won't come back?" Her eyes glinted in mischief. "It may be true that you will lose a lazy ass employee but he's a reliable detective of your agency."

The agency director thoughtfully nodded. "You do have a fair point. However it's very rare for him to request something from me. If it comes to an end that he will choose not to return, I'll accept his decision."

"And so am I!" The beret hat detective suddenly chimed in. "Fukuzawa-sensei's verdict is my final verdict!"

The bob-haired lady could only heaved a defeated sigh and rubbed her temple. "Yes. I knew it. I'm the only normal person inside this room."
