3rd POV

"There's been a lot of abrupt changes during your absence." The former math teacher started. "It's up to you to decide whether you'll label them as either good or bad."

"Let me guess...they're all bad news." The genius detective nonchalantly stated. "No need for sorting then."

His idealist partner momentarily paused for a moment and gently massaged his temple. "Do I need to inform the details? Because I think there's no need."

"Of course you do. I need some briefing~" The brunet chirped and winked playfully at his worn-out partner.

"Then might as well listen carefully, sh*tty Dazai!" The blond hollered.

The beanpole immediately raised his hands to surrender. "Okay~ Okay~ No need to shout, Kunikida-kun~ I'll give you this moment to showcase your data gathering skills~ Go on, I'm all ears now~"

The people in the room just grimaced and made an eye roll from the usual scenario they finally witnessed once again from the bickering duo.

When everything settled down, Kunikida then resumed. "There's been some recent actions on the government. Two members of the hunting dogs were dispatched to track the French Mafia Organization. Tetchou-san and Jouno-san are in the middle of their search to locate the remaining members of the troupe. As for the Port Mafia, Mori-san officially made an announcement that Nakahara-san will no longer be a part of their organization. His position as one of the mafia executive was terminated."

Dazai nodded understandingly. "Did you hear anything from Ango?"

"I tried to reach out Sakaguchi-san but I haven't heard anything from him. In fact, I'm still waiting for his response. Though, we managed to find out from Tsujimura-san that the government issued an order to the Special Ability Division to withdraw their investigation with regards to the case. She didn't give any further explanation."

"The current situation turned out to be the most troublesome operation, huh." The genius detective remarked.

"You're not seem to be surprised though." The agency doctor mused.

"I knew somehow this would eventually happened. The government won't stay still since they will gain something from the case. This operation is in fact valuable to them."

"You mean to say they knew about the case the entire time?" Kunikida asked with knitted eyebrows.

The beanpole shrugged. "Of course~ Ango surely provided them the information. He works for the government. It's only natural he filled them out for the details.

"And how valuable is the case to them, Dazai?" Yosano raised an eyebrow to the brunet.

"The one who leads the French Mafia Organization, the Carnival of Tainted Sorrow...that German doctor is said to be knowledgeable about the 'book'. It was rumor that is was in his possession."

The revelation made the atmosphere in the room became eerily dark and quiet. Every members of the ADA displayed an uneasy and worried look on their faces.

"Did the authorities manage to confirm this? And since when did you know about this?" The blond then probed.

"The government authorities are still in the process of confirming this. That's why they are in for the hunt. And me finding out is just a mere luck."

"Did your mere luck find the answer during the days of your dark confinement in the 'basement'?" A rhetorical question posed by the greatest detective that doesn't deserve much of an answer from his fellow genius.
