- Sunset

Running through the woods might be the best thing ever. You excluded from everything else in the world, except for the rushing water and crunching of leaves under your feet. Birds chriping and trees rustling in the wind.

I place the disguise back on myself and walk back into the village.

I was shocked that Dad let me leave again, but grateful.

If I told him why it would probably be a different answer. Which I why I didn't tell him why.

See I'm so smart.

It had already started by the time I got there.

I walked up panting and scanned the area.

I didn't see Asher. Subconsciously, I scanned the room for escape routes.

It was an open barn so I could easily walk out of the big doors, but I had been trained to find as many exits as possible just in case.

Dad taught me that. In a tough situation, when you can't fight your opponent, escape.

I learned that I was fast, so my primary way of escape is usually slipping past them. I will juke and sprint.

But that is off topic.

My heart sank as I continued to search.

"Looking for someone?"

I jumped and whirled around. Asher grinned at me.

"No actually, I was enjoying the music." I say. He grins.

"I didn't think you'd come." he tells me. "I'm full of surprises." I assure him.

He smiles at me.

"So, tell me about yourself." he says.

Oh, straight to it huh?

"Uhhh..." I mumble trying to think. I was never as good with words as Dad was.

"Let me narrow it down," he says with a grin, "Where are you from?"

"Here. I've never really been farther than this area." I say with a shrug.

Except for the time I was kidnapped and taken across the world.

"What about you? Local or no?" I ask him.

He hesitates for a slight second, fast enough to where anyone who wasn't trained to look for lies wouldn't catch it.

His eyes darted away from my gaze.

Before he even spoke I could tell it was a lie.

"Skywing. In one of the random mountain villages." he says with a shrug.

"How'd you end up here?" I ask.

A grim expression takes over his face. And he lies again.

"Parents wanted to move. I was pretty young." he says quickly.

Again another sign of lying.

I decided not to call him out.

The next song starts and we jump in.

I enjoyed dancing with Asher. He made it fun. We chatted, but it was pretty loud in there. Pretty sure I'm deaf in one ear now.

But it was worth it.

By the time it ended the sun was setting.

I walked out with him laughing.

"You suck at dancing." he points out. "I do not!" I argue.
