Chapter 8:

Hailey "I'm at my happiest when I'm with you", Jay "I love you so much", Hailey "I love you too", Jay "tomorrow's the big day", Hailey "I know", Jay "I'm ready to say yes to spending the rest of my life with you", Hailey "I'm ready too, I wrote my vow for you", Jay "I wrote mine as well. Can I talk to you about something", Hailey "do you not wanna marry me", Jay "woah baby, it's not like that. It's about something else", Hailey "okay", Jay "I want you to tell me why you wanted to give Avery a new start", Hailey "that'll make me emotional", Jay "Hailey, I'm in love with all of you. Your flaws, your emotions, all of you baby", Hailey "okay. Well we had a rough case, Avery was the youngest victim, she was in bad shape but overall was set to make a full recovery. I wanted to leave because I knew that I couldn't stay in Chicago forever and that eventually I wanted my new start. And being here is my new start. I always wanted to be a mother, I really have, my entire life, and she's my world. From the moment I saved her I knew that I wanted to be her mother", Jay "you're adopting her", Hailey "yeah, I'm currently fostering her, and we have to wait for a court date. That court date finalizes the adoption", Jay "I wanna adopt her too, I wanna be her father, I do. I really do", Hailey "I love you so much", Jay "I love you too my girl".

Jay "do you have something to wear tomorrow", Hailey "I've been going back and forth about what to wear. And I don't wanna wear something that I don't want to and my choices are all over the place right now", Jay "why don't you have Avery pick something out for you. I'm sure she'll do a good job", Hailey "okay". Jay "what do you wanna do today", Hailey "I'm not sure, I kind of wanted to do some more exploring, didn't really do much after I got here. I kind of just settled in and met my new team at the field office, Avery's been asking to go to Times Square is the pretty place in New York City", Jay "should we get in the shower then, and then go make breakfast. That way when your dad and Avery wake up we could wait for them and then we could leave to go to Times Square", Hailey "sure", the two of them finally managed to get out of bed, making the bed and then heading into the shower to freshen up. After out of the shower, Hailey "I'm gonna get check and see if Avery's awake", Jay "okay", Hailey wrapped her towel around her as she left the bathroom heading to Avery's room. Hailey went and opened the curtains, letting the light shine through the window of her room, Avery tossed and turned before rubbing her eyes consistently. Hailey "good morning sunshine", Avery "good morning", she said yawning. Hailey "so me and Jay were thinking we could go to Times Square today if you'd like. We could go explore, maybe even go see a Broadway show", Avery "really", Hailey "yeah. Is that something you would like to do today", Avery "yeah", Hailey kissed her on the head, Hailey "why don't you go get showered and get those teeth brushed. Me and Jay are gonna make breakfast", Avery "okay", Avery climbed out of bed and went to the bathroom, Hailey fixed up her room and then went to her and Jay's room to get dressed. Jay "is she up", Hailey "yeah. She just went into the shower, and then she's gonna brush her teeth", Jay "I think Hank is up too", Hailey used the blow dryer to dry her damped hair, she put a bit of makeup on and then went downstairs to the kitchen. Hank "morning kiddo", Hailey "morning. So we are gonna go to Times Square, are you going to be joining us", Hank "sure. What time are we leaving", Hailey "not sure yet, Avery's in the shower. Me and Jay just got out of the shower, Hank "I'll just take one now. And then hopefully be out before ya leave", Hailey "we're not gonna leave to you lol. Besides were are still waiting for Avery", Hank "okay", Hailey went to her room to continue to do her makeup. Jay "you look really pretty", Hailey "thank you baby", Avery "Hailey", Hailey "I'll be right there. I'm gonna go see what she needs", Jay "okay", Hailey went to check on Avery, Hailey "what's up love", Avery "I don't know what to wear", Hailey "baby you have tons of clothes to choose from. Do you wanna wear a dress and some sandals, it's pretty nice out. It's sunny and hot", Avery "is that what you are wearing", Hailey "yeah me and Jay are matching", Avery "I wanna match with you two", Hailey "okay let's just look through and find you some shorts", Avery "I want to wear those", Hailey "these", Avery "yeah", Avery put them on and Hailey looked for a shirt for her. Avery "that one", Hailey "okay", Avery put her sneakers on and they Hailey put her hair up in a side ponytail and added a hair bow to her hair. Hailey "dad are you ready, we are all pretty much ready", Hank "give me like five minutes my love", Hailey "okay". A few minutes later and they headed out. Hank "when are you buying your car", Hailey "I already bought it, I have to go to pick it up, I gotta go tomorrow", Hank "okay. So where are we going first", Hailey "I was thinking of going to Pandora, wanna get a bracelet for her", Avery "for me", Hailey "yes baby for you", Jay "this one right", Hailey "yeah", they headed inside, Jay "hey me and Hank are gonna go to the watch store next door", Hailey "okay", Hailey "why don't you go pick out a bracelet design you like. And I want you to choose a few charms, whichever ones you like", Avery "okay", Hailey looked around while Avery picked out a couple of charms for her new bracelet. Hailey "is this the one you want my love", Avery "yeah", Hailey "those charms too", Avery "yeah", Hailey brought everything up to the front at the cashier. "Would you like me to put the charms on the bracelet and put it on for her", Hailey "yeah I appreciate it. It looks really pretty on you", Hailey paid for the bracelet and the charms, meeting up with Jay and Hank next door. Hailey "did you boys find what you were looking for", Jay "we just looked, it's pretty pricy in there", Jay "where are we going now", Avery "can we go to five below please", Hailey "sure", into the store and up the escalator they went. They went around the store, Avery picked out a couple of stitch toys out, Hailey "do you like any of the shirts they have", Avery "I want them to be big", Hailey "as in a bigger size", Avery "yeah", Hailey "which ones do you like? You can pick them out", Avery picked out a few shirts, Avery picked out a couple of water bottles out as well. After they left the store, Jay "where do you wanna go now", Avery "can we get a treat", Hailey "where do you wanna go, they are a few bakeries over here", Avery "can we go to Cinnabon, it's right there", Hailey "yeah, come on", after getting the snack they headed towards 45th St. Avery was almost shocked, Jay "are you okay sweetie. The must the famous Moulin Rouge you were talking about", Avery "I really want to go", Hailey "is that the one where you said a special someone works there", Avery "I don't know if you allow me to go if I tell you who works there", Hailey "I don't think I'm a cruel person. You can tell me who works there", Avery "my biological mom works there", tears started flowing from her eyes, Avery "my mom didn't exactly give me up, her abusive boyfriend is the reason I left her, I didn't exactly leave. I was taken out of her custody because of him", Hailey "I'm so sorry sweetheart, you see I'm sure me and Jay are willing to allow you to have weekend visits with her or she could even come on the weekdays", Avery "you would do that for me", Hailey "yes love, besides we have tickets to tonight's show and you're gonna be visiting her backstage", Avery "thank you", Hailey "you're welcome my sweet girl", they headed to the museum of Broadway to buy shirts for the show. Hank dropped everything back off at the house before meeting back up with them. The four of them stood on the line, and waited for the doors to open to the show.

The doors opened, the seats they had were at orchestra level, Hailey "what do you think"? Avery "it's the prettiest design I've ever seen", Jay "me and Hank are gonna go get some drinks and do you want any snacks", Hailey "candy", Jay "okay. Well be right back", Hailey "do you see your mom's name on any of these papers", Avery "yeah. Her name is right here, it's Tasia", after Jay and Hank came back. The show began, the minute Avery saw her mom on stage she immediately started crying. Hailey "are one of them your mom", Avery "long curly hair, right there", she pointed. Halfway into the show it took a 15 minute intermission. Hailey "what do you all think of it so far", Jay "I like it, the music is amazing", Hank "yeah. It's good so far", Hailey "and what about you cutie", Avery "I love it", during the intermission Hailey and Avery went to the bathroom and then came back to their seats. The show started up again. Once the show ended, they did get some merchandise and then headed to the stage door outside. Little did Avery know, Hailey had been texting with Tasia all day, and Tasia was about to leave with them. They crossed over to the street, Avery "what are we doing over here", Hailey "just waiting on someone", Avery "okay", Jay "is she coming", he whispered into her ear. Hailey "yeah, she'll be out in about five minutes. She's changing", a few minutes went by. Hailey "she's coming out now", Jay "what if fans stop her", Hailey "she's just leaving", Jay "okay", Tasia "you must be Hailey", Hailey "yeah", Tasia "Avery", Avery "mommy", Tasia "hi", she picked her up and hugged her, Tasia "so I'm going to your place, I assume", Hailey "yeah", they left 45th St and headed back to Hailey's place. They got home. Hank ordered dinner, Hailey "are you seeing anyone. If you don't mind me asking", Tasia "I was but he kind of did something to me and I don't trust him anymore, Jay. I'm assuming that's your husband", Hailey "yeah, we are getting married in a few days", Tasia "he seems lovely", Hailey "he is", Tasia "thank you for saving her. Chris is the reason that she's not in my custody", Hailey "listen, I know your her birth mother. Which is why I want you to be in her life, you could have her on the weekends, you could stay over here. You can be in her life, and we could become good friends, if that's something you'd like", Tasia "yeah. I would love that", they had dinner. Hailey "we could maybe hang out tomorrow if you want", Tasia "I'm off tomorrow so that'll work", they watched a movie.

Met Avery's biological mother today, she's a Broadway performer and she's amazing. And before ya even come at me, yes we want her to be in Avery's life, that is entirely up to us and we are okay with it. She's such a sweetie addition to our family, Avery is literally her twin, they look so alike. Welcome to our family Tasia 🩷🩷🩷
