The Boathouse Briefing

It was 10 till 9, Tori showed up at the Boathouse as Hanna saw her pull out in her blue Challenger. When she got out of her car, Sam said, "Nice ride, Lieutenant. Didn't see you as a muscle car person," Tori said, "That's what a lot of people have told me," Sam said, "That's mine," pointing to his black Challenger. Tori said, "Nice," Sam said, "If you don't mind me asking but why a Challenger?" Tori said, "Why not and I drive Chargers enough on the job. Maybe something different. I also have a 2016 Mustang after I graduated from the academy. Also, did you work with my dad?" Sam said, "Commander Vega? I wouldn't say we did but we did talk a few times and pass some information to each other in a few cases," Tori said, "Do I want to know what else you know about me?" Sam said, "I know your mom owns several businesses and your sister is a celeb stylist and business owner herself and you and your sister are trust fund babies,"

Tori said, "Did you look at everything about me?" Sam said, "Pretty much, I know you went into law enforcement after the death of your high school friend at the hands of another friend of yours and you have an impressive resume minus some complaints," Tori said, "I don't know if I should be honored or scared. Also, did you look into my high school website, The Slap?" Sam said, "We did, you were a talented singer and actress and I'm guessing you still are,"   

Tori said, "Thanks and actually the guy I'm dating still wants me to record an album with him but I like being a cop," Sam said, "Well, it's not too late if you decide to do it," Tori said, "I know but I left that dream a long time ago plus 30 is a little late to start a music career," Sam said, "Never said Never," 

They both go into the boathouse and there were NCIS agents Callen, Kensi, Marty Deeks, and Jane Tennant. They introduced themselves to Tori and vice versa and shook their hands. Marty said, "I think I know you, don't I?" Tori said, "Maybe, I might have seen your face a time or two. Did you meet my dad?" Marty said, "The Commander? I've met him before. I don't think he liked me that much," Tori said, "Yeah, I remember you're not popular in the department and I think there was a celebration when you left," Callen said, "Sounds about right," Deeks said, "Really guys, I'm right here," 

Tori said, "In fairness, I did hear you were a good detective," Sam said, "Are you sure about that?" Jane said, "OK, as much as I enjoy roasting Marty Deeks. Shouldn't we get down to business?" Callen said, "Aren't we waiting for Kate to show up?" Kensi said, "No offense but why? Don't know about the case anyway since we did a similar case over a decade ago,"  Jane said, "The FBI is working on this case as well, so I believe we should wait for Kate and Rountree," 

Tori said, "Rountree? Is it Devin Rountree?" Callen said, "Yeah, you know him?" Tori said, "We met a few times, he's friends with my friend Andre,"  Callen said, "You mean your ex-boyfriend?" Tori said, "Seriously is there anything you don't know about me?" Deeks said, "Isn't it true you dated that actor from that TV show?" Tori said, "Sadly, yes. Once in high school and a few more times after I hosted him on a Ride Along," Kensi said, "You went to high school with him?" Tori said, "Yeah, I was in a Performing Arts School called......" Sam said, "Hollywood Arts High School, my daughter tryout at the school but didn't get in,"   

Deeks said, "Isn't he also the same guy you embarrassed in that performance what was it called "Beggin On Your Knees,"?" Kensi said, "Yes, my girl," Tori said, "How many my performances have you looked at?" Jane said, "Enough to wonder why you're a police officer instead of trying to make it in the music biz," Callen said, "We know why well some of us, I heard about it on the news. Sorry about your friend," Tori said, "Thanks, I didn't think after her murder I would want to have a music career though I did minor in Music. I made a deal with my dad if Cat's killer wasn't caught by the time I graduated from college, I would go into law enforcement and that's what I did,"

Callen said, "For what it's worth, you are a damn fine officer," Deeks said, "I heard nothing but good things about you," Tori said, "Really?" Deeks said, "Well besides some complaints but other than that, nothing but good things," Kensi said, "Don't worry it happens, Marty got a bunch of complaints," Deeks said, "Not a bunch but I did get some," 

Then Kate Whistler and Devin Rountree showed up. Rountree said, "Sorry we're late, we got stuck in traffic," Kate said, "Actually, we stopped at Starbucks then got stuck in traffic," Rountree said, "Really?"  and he saw Tori and said, "Is that Lieutenant Victoria Vega?" Tori said going for a hug, "Please call me Tori," as they hugged. Rountree said, "When are you and Andre going to be an item again?" Tori said, "Not the time, Devin," Jane said, "Can we please go to what we're here for?" 

Kate said, "Sorry let me set up and also, Kate Whistler FBI," as she shook Tori's hand. Tori said, "Nice to meet you,". Kate set up for the briefing and said, "I'm sure some of you know the California Gold Taxi Service," Callen said, "Yeah, we busted them about a dozen years ago,"  Kate said, "Well, they're back and from our intel, they also added LASD deputies and possibly members of the LAPD. Also, members of our agency as well," 

Sam said, "Seriously they couldn't come up with a new name," Callen said, "Let me guess, Weapons?" Kate said, "And drugs. Also, it's not only in Camp Pendleton. The Port of Los Angeles is also a place they operate and there's a Frenchman from Vietnam named Napoleon who is behind the whole operation," Kensi said, "Seriously?" 

Jane said, "Seriously, I have dealt with his operation in Hawaii. Unsure about the name but thanks to him, have some service members OD because of his drugs," Tori said, "and that's why you're here," Jane said, "Yep, I want to take him down," Tori said, "Then why am I here?" Kate said, "We are looking for someone to run the sub-station and we're impressed with your resume and Chief Crowley recommended you Lieutenant Vega, can I call you Victoria, such a lovely name," Tori said, "I prefer Tori," Kate said, "OK I get that and you have a lovely singing voice," Kate said, "Anyway, we want you to lead the uniformed officers and deputies of the station and you will be promoted to Captain if you accept,"   

Tori thought about it for a bit before deciding she'll do it. Kate said, "Wonderful, do you have anyone that would want to join?" Tori said, "I have two names in mind, Sargeant Sean Parker of the LASD and former Lieutenant Jade West however she resigned from the LASD," Callen said, "Would she return?" Tori said, "I doubt it but I can try to convince her. She is one of the people I can trust," Callen said, "See that you can do," Sam said, "Is she the one who we met in the party?" Tori said, "She is," Callen said, "If anything, we can bring her in to sign your books," Rountree said, "She already signed my and Fatima's, I knew she through Andre," The briefing ended and Tori had to think about how to convince Jade to come back to law enforcement.
