With the iPad in my hand I made track across the store - back towards the couple, however my footsteps were abruptly cut off by the entrance door flying open on its hinge, allowing a cluster of people to burst their way through it.

One of them hooked their hand in my arm and shoved me to the ground. My knees buckled beneath me and I landed on the hardwood floor dazed.

"Everybody get on the ground!" One of them yelled, his voice muffled by the black balaclava mask he was wearing.

My stomach twisted with dread as I watched everything unfold all around me. Hamiltons was crawling with at least fifteen masked men and they all seemed to have a separate purpose or job to do.

A shadow slowly dropped over the room as one of them lowered the shutters around the whole building, blocking out the outside world and taking us hostage.

My head spun like I was on an anti gravity ride and my veins froze as the realisation sunk in.

"Fifteen minute timer starting now." Another one announced, he remained stationary at the door, holding onto an iPad.

A different man went around the hostages forcing them to hand over their phones. The couple I was assisting held onto one another, crying. Somehow, I don't think the cost of her ring felt important anymore.
