Aliya's PoV

(Present time)

"Hey Liya, wake up. The class is over. We get to go", Martha says lightly shaking me.

Ya Allah! When did I fall asleep. It was the last class for the day. So, I collect my things and join Martha, Asma and Rafi. They are my best friends in the university. They are my support system here as I live alone in the city without any family members or relatives. My hometown is approximately 200 Km away from here.

Walking towards the university bus station we started talking about the last which I missed partially by sleeping.

Rafi says," Aliya, did you hear the announcement of our group discussion on stock market behaviour? All students are divided into 12 groups including 5 members in each".

Hay Allah! I have missed that part. Damn my sleeping habit. I am having sleeping issues lately. That's why I feel sleepy during classes. "Did I get a group?", I said in a low tone.
"Do you really have to ask this seriously Aliya?" Asma said raising her brows.

"Of course you are included in our group and Alif is also included", Martha smirked.
" So what? Guys don't start again. There is nothing going on between us, okay." I said rolling my eyes.
"We are not afraid of your doll eyes babe, it looks like someone is waiting for you", Asma said looking towards the bus stand.

I follow her direction to see Alif standing there looking at us.
All of my friends left me there saying they need to hop on their bus otherwise they have to go all the way standing. These idots!

I compelled myself to walk towards Alif's direction as my bus is right behind him. He greeted me with a smile and said, "Assalamu Alaikum (May peace be upon you), how are you?".

I replied to him with a soft smile, " Walaikum Assalamu (May peace be upon you too), Alhamdulillah, how are you?".

He replied, " Alhamdulillah, As you know we are in the same group of group discussions. Taking a pause, he said nervously "I think we need to discuss the topic for the presentation. So..I am thinking why not we.. I mean you and I.. study together tomorrow."

I, taking a deep breath replied, " Five of us can study together and this will be more effective than studying two of us alone. You know, more brains more insights. I can create a group in messenger and tell them about this."

He nodded with a disappointing smile in his eyes. He said, "Aliya, you know why I am here, right? I also know you are deliberately doing this. Why are you running from me?".

I replied, " Because I don't want you to get hurt. I can't give you what you want from me. I hope my dealings with you already showed you that."

Brushing his hair with his hand he said, " Can't you see my sincerity? Isn't 3 years enough for that?".
"Sorry, Alif. I gotta go. My bus is leaving". I passed him saying that and got on the bus.

Taking a seat I leaned on the back seat and closed my eyes. I can't play with someone's emotion, that's why I am running from everyone who likes me.

How could I? When my heart sealed this door a long time ago.

Besides, I can't date anyone. Even if it's him. So it's better this way.
