The second semester was almost over. It was a bit unnerving, how fast the time went by. With this tempo I would be doing my internship soon - and that was quite scary. It just meant a whole another step into adulthood and that scared the shit out of me. I didn't feel ready for any of this yet. Could I even do that - the internship? I still felt like a kid only, not like someone who was supposed to finish their studies in a few years and get a job and... have a life. How could people do that so easily?

Sighing, I looked over at the professor who was currently answering someone's question. Good for them. Staying so curious after all this studying. And here I was, sometimes questioning my decisions. It was mine even though one could think my parents decided for me as they worked in the same department. However, the opposite was the truth - I wanted to do this for years now. Just for some reason, I didn't realize it would include so many... texts to learn. I just needed another two years to survive. I could do that, right?

"Hey," I heard someone whisper close to me, making me glance at the person sitting right next to me. Scarlett Smith. A quite short girl with black straight hair who could be sometimes pretty annoying. She talked a lot. And I mean a lot.

Raising my eyebrows at her, I waited for her to elaborate. Or maybe not. I didn't really need the professor to admonish us. That would be highly embarrassing.

"I got a few tickets for a play," she started. "My friends are coming with me, but one of them can't make it... and you seem like you need some entertainment."

Okay? I stared at her, surprised at her boldness. However, I had to give it to her. Yes, some entertainment could be nice. But how did she... why would she think I needed that? We weren't big on being friends. If anything there were other people in the field I considered more friends than her. Like the group I used to go to lunch with. Unfortunately, they were sitting a few rows in front of us now.

  "Sure. What's the time?"

"Seven," she smiled, rummaging through her bag. "But I'll still give ya the ticket."

Later that Friday I was supposed to spend lunch time with the so-called group of my friends. I wasn't so sure about that label, but Amani was there too, so at least someone was my friend. It was a little weird getting into the same course as one of my friends, ex-classmates on top of that, but still nice nevertheless.

It didn't take much of my time to pack my things and head towards a place we agreed to visit today. A Thai restaurant. But I wasn't so sure. Most of the time we just went to the campus to eat, but other times we felt like something... more special. And so here we were.

  "Sidney!"

I turned my head to see Amani walking behind me, trying to catch up with me. She had a light blue hijab that matched with her jeans. I liked how she had one in almost every colour. I personally switched to one spectrum... like orange was not my colour so I probably had nothing orange. But otherwise - warm colours were for me. Mostly.

"Hey," I smiled at her as she fell into step with me.

  "Ready for some spicy food?"

Chuckling, I shrugged at her question. I liked spicy food but until a certain level. Not Mexican or Korean spicy. Just...a little, like when I felt that the food had it in it but not until the stomachache point.

It didn't take us long until we were in front of the restaurant and then entered the place. It was just around the corner from where I had met Amani.

Just as the door closed behind us, I looked around the place to see if the others were already there. And thankfully, two of them were already sitting in a corner booth. Timothy, a light-haired guy, saw us first when we were halfway there.
