The sun was shining brightly over the sandy beach, making the waves sparkle like a thousand tiny diamonds. How nostalgic of me to look at this beach and think about all the diamonds I saw in that household. It had nothing to do with me anymore and yet I immediately remembered them.

Lion, and the other kids were already running around, their laughter mixing with the sound of the waves. They already forgot about me as they ran into the ocean soaking their feets a bit and then splashing water around. It seemed like fun and I wanted to join them but I was a cat right now... how was I supposed to do that? Besides I didn't really liked the sand that much. I had a feeling it would be a pain in the ass to actually clean my nice fur up.

Lion: Everyone, let's build a sandcastle!

Child: A sandcastle? How do we do that?

Lion: We use our hands—and .... hey Penelope, you too!!!! You use your paws—to pile up sand and make it into a castle!

These children were really all over the place. First in the water, then chasing each other than at my side playing and patting my fur and now everyone joined together, and we all started digging. My paws got sandy, but I didn't mind it as I could hear their laughter and saw how much they were having fun just being kids. The sand was warm and soft, and I liked the way it felt at my paws.... tho I hated it on my fur. We made a big pile, and then Lion showed me how to pat it down to make walls and towers.

Girl: Look! This is your tower.

Boy: And here's the moat. The water will go around it.

I watched as they dug a trench around the castle and filled it with water from their little buckets. The castle was perfect, with towers and walls and even a tiny flag made from a stick and a leaf.

Me: Mew!

It's beautiful! Can I live in it?

HAHAHAHA just joking.

I can't really live there... and all the sand!!!!

Too much!

But they seem to enjoy everything right now

Girl:  You can be the queen of the castle! Look you fit there!

I sat proudly on my sandy throne, feeling like a royal cat. I wouldn't have done it if I wouldn't have seen their eyes filled with expectations. Anyways.... , the waves started to come closer. The tide was coming in!

Boy: The waves are going to get our castle!

Lion: Quick, let's build a wall to protect it!

We all worked together, piling up more sand to make a barrier. But the waves were too strong. They crashed over our wall and washed our castle away.

Oh no! Our castle!

How sad....

But it was soo fun.

Anna: It's okay, kitty..... We can build another one.

Lion: Or we can play in the water!

The water looked so inviting. I had never been in the ocean before. Lion took my paw and led me to the edge of the waves. The water was cool and refreshing. I dipped my paws in, and then the waves tickled my feet. It was the best feeling ever! Still once again, I wouldn't have gone near the water if not for Lion right now. I don't know what it was that let me just leave the kids do whatever they want with me. I guess.... I liked how they were laughing.

Lion: Come one! Jump over the waves!

We all jumped as the waves came in, laughing and splashing. The sea breeze ruffled my fur, and I felt so alive. We chased each other along the shore, leaving paw prints and footprints in the wet sand.

Boy: Let's collect seashells!

Girl: Yes! And we can make necklaces!

We searched the beach for the prettiest shells. I found a shiny one that glistened in the sunlight. The kids started to strung the shells onto pieces of string, and soon we all had beautiful shell necklaces. They even used magic to do this. It was crazy just watching them.

Lion: This has been the best day of the week!!!!

Me: MEW!

I could only agree to that.

As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the beach, I curled up on Lion's coat, purring contentedly. These tiny humans were the best playmates in the world, and the beach was my new favorite place. Never would I have thought to find my happiness here.

How surprising the world could be.
