Shawn's POV

It had been a whole week, that Ava had been asleep.

I was keeping tabs on Ava's health for the girls.

I visited her everyday.

I would sing to her, hoping that maybe she would hear it and wake up.

I would tell Ava about my day, knowing she wouldn't reply. But, I had hope that behind her unconscious body, inside she was listening. Maybe she was even laughing at the corny jokes I would tell her.

If she didn't wake up, I don't know what I would do.

The last time I saw her smiling face, was when we were at The Titanic.

That night, was our first and only real date.

Ava was dressed fancy, her eyes lit up with enthusiasm. And it was so much fun to see how Ava and her friends laughed and had a great time at the show. Meeting everyone was nice too.

On that night, I was 100% positive Ava was the girl I wanted to be with.

Then everything went up in flames, literally.

Most people would have bailed after something like that, but no matter how much my mind was telling me to get away from all the craziness, my heart wouldn't let me leave.

If you love someone, it's so easy to overlook all flaws and problems, that they're almost non-existent.

I held Ava's hand. "I really don't think, you know how much you mean to me. And I don't think you know how much it pains me to see you like this" I whispered.

"Interrupting something?"

Startled, I turned around.

"Nash" I snarled.

"Little brother"

"What do you think you're doing here?" I asked, "Here to ruin my life some more?"

"I'm sorry about your girlfriend, Shawn" he apologized. "But you have to admit she had you whipped"

"Now's really not the time to mess with me" I snapped.

"Calm down!" He laughed.

"Nash, you must be really stupid to come fuck with me at a time like this!" I spat, "Because of you, we almost died in the abandoned warehouse! You almost killed your own brother!"

"Stop being dramatic"

"Dramatic?" I raised my eyebrows in disbelief, "Ava's on the verge of dying, And you're calling me dramatic?"

He was silent.

"What? No smart side comment?"

"Nope, I'm all out of sarcasm right now" he said like he didn't even comprehend what I was saying.

"Why are you even here?" I asked.

"Had to check up on a friend of mine"

"Really?" I questioned in disbelief.

"More like a sibling of a friend"

"What?"

"And then I decided to come in here see how my brothers girl was doing"

"Don't you even think about setting another foot in this room again" I threatened.

"Oh, I love heated Shawn" he laughed.

"Get out of here right now!" I yelled.

"Okay, feisty pants!" He left the room.

I sighed. "I wonder what he's actually doing here" I said as if I was talking to Ava.

I glanced back at Ava, then the door. "I'll be right back"

I walked out of Ava's hospital room and down the hall to the front desk.

A middle aged woman sat behind the small desk, rummaging through papers and scanning through computer screens.

"Excuse me, this might sound peculiar but, has anyone been a visitor under the name Nash Carleton?" I asked as politely as I could.

She clicked her mouse a few times, "There's a Shawn Carleton, no Nash Carleton"

Maybe Nash wasn't visiting under his name...

"Was there an Adam Garcia?"

She clicked her mouse once more, "Yeah, he just left"

"What? Who did he come to visit?"

She scrolled down her screen. "Adyson Vincent, room 203"

Vincent...where have I heard that name before??

"Thanks so much!" I said politely.

I grabbed my phone from my jean pocket.

ME: Does the name "Adyson Vincent" ring a bell to you?
KEEGAN: Yeah, that's Bobby's little sister.
ME: Bobby is the one dating Jaiden, right?
KEEGAN: Yeah lol.
ME: Thanks haha

I placed my phone back in my pocket and headed to room 203.

I popped my head through the door.

A fourteen year old girl layed there unconsciously. She was receiving Chemotherapy.

Bobby's little sister had cancer?

On the floor near Adyson's bed, there was an empty needle lying on the floor.

That couldn't have been from the doctor. They're not sloppy like that.

I glanced down to the poor fourteen year old cancer patient.

Her eyes shot open.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you!" I whispered.

"Tell Bobby, It was Adam" her voice was faint.

"What?"

Suddenly her breathing started to speed up along with the sound of her heart rate monitor.

"Hey! Hey! We need a nurse!" I screamed. "Right now!!"

All of a sudden, the rapid beeping sound of the heart rate monitor became a slow long beep and Adyson's body was lifeless.

"Oh my God" I panicked.

She was dead...
