Nayla's POV

As I bid farewell to my colleagues at the school, the weight of leaving such a significant chapter behind settled heavily on my shoulders. It was a bittersweet moment; while I was sad to say goodbye to the familiar routine and the wonderful students I had grown fond of, there was also a sense of relief in knowing that I could now focus solely on my studies without the added pressure of work.

With my days now dedicated to lectures, seminars, and studying, I found myself falling back into the rhythm of university life. It was a welcome change of pace, allowing me to immerse myself fully in my academic pursuits.

However, amidst the lectures and assignments, a pleasant surprise brightened my day.

As I answered the call, Leila's face filled the screen, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Hey, Nayla! Guess where I am right now?"

I leaned closer to the screen, curiosity piqued. "Where?"

"I'm at the airport, and I have a flight to London in an hour!" Leila exclaimed, barely able to contain her grin.

My jaw dropped in disbelief. "What? Are you serious?"

Leila nodded enthusiastically. "Dead serious! I couldn't wait any longer to see my favorite Londoner."

A rush of happiness washed over me, and I couldn't help but smile back at her. "That's amazing! I can't wait to see you. Let me know when you land so I can come pick you up."

We quickly discussed the logistics of her arrival, and I promised to be waiting for her at the airport when her flight touched down. As we ended the call, I couldn't suppress the excitement bubbling inside me at the thought of reuniting with my best friend.

As I was about to send a text to Billie about Leila's visit, a FaceTime call from her interrupted me. I answered with a smile, glad for the opportunity to share the news directly.

"Hey, Nayla," Billie greeted me warmly. "I was just about to text you, but I saw you typing, so I figured I'd just call instead. What's up?"

I chuckled at the timing and replied, "Funny you should say that because I was just about to text you too. Leila's coming to visit!"

Billie's eyes lit up with interest. "That's awesome! When's she arriving?"

"Later today," I answered, excitement bubbling in my chest. "I was thinking, could she stay with me for a bit? I mean, if it's not too much trouble."

Billie's response was immediate and reassuring. "Of course she can stay, Nayla. It's your home too, and you don't need my permission or approval for anything. Whatever makes you happy."

Her words warmed my heart, and I couldn't help but feel grateful for her understanding and support. "Thanks, Billie. I appreciate it."

With a smile, Billie whispered. "I miss you."

"I miss you too," I replied, feeling a warmth spread through me at the sight of her. "It's not the same without you here."

"I know," she sighed softly. "But I'll be back before you know it."

"I can't wait," I said, smiling softly. "I really miss having you around."

Billie's gaze softened, her eyes reflecting a depth of emotion. "I miss you too, Nayla. More than you'll ever know."

A lump formed in my throat as I returned her gaze, feeling the weight of her words. "I... I love you," I whispered, the words slipping out before I could stop them.

A soft smile tugged at the corners of Billie's lips, her eyes shining with tenderness. "I love you too, Nayla. Always."

After my call with Billie ended, I sprung from my desk, eager to make preparations for Leila's imminent visit. With a mental shopping list in hand, I dashed out to grab groceries, envisioning the delightful dishes I'd whip up.
