As the ornate bridal carriage graced the entrance of the Mohn estate, the wheels rolling to a graceful halt, Albert and Madam Mohn, a woman with white hair cascading over a layer of blonde, a relatively small stature, around 50-years of age, and dressed in the manner of Castilian Nobility stood poised to welcome their new subject.

Albert, with a chivalrous demeanor, opened the carriage door, revealing Alice clad in her favorite gown, though her expression remained a mere reflection of shadows with a polite smile.

Albert of Mohn, a man of pale blonde hair and meadow green eyes, his frame embodying both a thin and muscular stature, dressed in the attire befitting nobility, offering his hand: "Mistress Alice, welcome to our estate, this is Madam Mohn, our Matriarch, and your Superior. and I'm Albert— your second stepson."

Alice smiled faintly as she curtsied, her eyes casting shadows of ice without a single ray of expression; "It is my honor to serve your estate, dear Madam, Young Lord". The air seemed to still as her foot touched the ground, the grandeur of her gown in stark contrast to the somberness of her presence.

Madam Mohn, hiding a flicker of concern beneath her welcoming smile, greeted Alice.

Madam Mohn: "We're pleased to have you with our big family, Mistress Alice. May this estate become a haven for you. Your command of our language is impressive, I almost forgot you are originally from England."

Alice replied with a polite smile: "I am nothing compared to you, Madam."

The mysterious figure with long, exotic, curly ginger hair observed them from the shadows of an upstairs window, adding an air of intrigue to the unfolding narrative, a silent witness to this meeting.

Albert, leading the way: "Allow me to guide you. We'll meet Sir Richaud and my older brother Edward."

As they strolled through the opulent halls, Madam Mohn initiated a conversation that revealed fragments of her own narrative.

She shared tales of personal mourning, unraveling a narrative of tragedy that had left her heartbroken. A mourning that enveloped her since the tragic loss of her last son—an infant who had left a void years ago.

Madam Mohn, her voice tinged with melancholy: "The estate longs for the laughter of children. I hope you and Cateline can bring that joy since I can no longer provide my husband with another child."

As Alice pondered Madam Mohn's words, a silent question echoed in her heart. "Cateline? Cateline who? Is she the second mistress of the house? Is it the woman that looked at us from upstairs just now?"

She spoke of her early marriage to Sir Richaud when she was just 14 of age, her commitment to upholding the lordship estate, and the unspoken but palpable alliance with Richaud. The lands were vast, and the burden of inheritance rested upon her firstborn, Edward of Mohn.
