Few weeks after Peter's return— Amidst the jubilant atmosphere of the grand banquet, the halls of Wode Castle echoed with cheers and merriment. Viscountess Beatrix, adorned in noble splendor, raised her goblet for a toast.

Beatrix: "Ladies and gentlemen, let us celebrate the return of our valiant hero, Sir Peter of Wode, my dear nephew! His courage on the battlefield has brought honor to our name and secured our land."

The crowd erupted in cheers, toasting to Peter's triumphant return. The long tables were adorned with sumptuous feasts, and the air was filled with the lively chatter of nobles and knights.

Beatrix: "As a token of our gratitude, each member of Sir Peter's troop shall be rewarded generously. Their valor in battle is commendable, and Wode is indebted to their service."

The applause resounded, and the knights exchanged proud glances, their efforts recognized in the rewards bestowed upon them.

Amidst the festivities, Beatrix seized the opportune moment to make an unexpected announcement.

Beatrix: "Now, let us turn our attention to matters of joyous union. I am pleased to announce the betrothal of Sir Peter Wode to the lovely Lady Teresa!"

A hush fell over the crowd, as eyes turned towards Peter, who stood frozen in surprise. Alice, in a corner of the hall, felt her heart sink. Beatrix continued, seemingly oblivious to the turmoil she had stirred.

Beatrix: "This alliance shall strengthen our bonds and ensure a prosperous future for Wode. Let us rejoice in this union!"

The crowd erupted in polite applause, concealing the tension that lingered beneath the surface. Peter, grappling with the sudden announcement, scanned the room, his eyes seeking out Alice.

Peter (whispering to Alice): "What is this madness? I never agreed to this betrothal."

Alice, her eyes reflecting the shock and hurt, replied in a hushed tone.

Alice: "Peter, I... I.." as Alice hold her tears while scanning the room.

Alice "Excuse me, I feel a little tired."

Peter's eyes pleaded with Alice as she excused herself from the crowd, her heart heavy with the unexpected revelation. In the quiet corridor outside the banquet hall, Peter caught up with her.

Peter: "Alice, please. This isn't what I wanted."

Alice, trying to compose herself, said to Peter, Alice: "What is happening, Peter? I thought..." as Alice walked in fast pace leaving the place.

Peter: "I have no intention of marrying Teresa. Beatrix has overstepped, and I had no say in this." Peter tried to walk as fast as Alice.

Alice: "Congratulations for your union, my lord" as Alice curtsy to Peter while holding her tears. Trying to compose herself, walked in fast pace, leaving Peter in the midst of confusion.

Peter: "Alice, wait! Let me explain."

The crowd's murmurs grew louder as they witnessed the unfolding drama. Gossip spread like wildfire.

Guest 1: "Did you hear? Peter is refusing to marry Lady Teresa!"

Guest 2: "And who's that girl he was with? Some secret lover, perhaps?"

Guest 3: "Isn't she John the Merchant's daughter?"

Guest 1: "A commoner?!"

John the merchant and Henry, Alice's brother, exchanged surprised glances as they overheard the gossip. Their eyes darted between Alice and Peter, attempting to make sense of the unfolding drama.

John: "Henry, did you know about this?"

Henry: "No, Father, I had no idea. But look, Peter seems furious. What's happening?"

Meanwhile, Peter's eyes shot daggers at his aunt, Viscountess Beatrix, who was seated on the high podium's chair. His anger was  palpable, and his gaze seemed to convey an urgent desire to chase after Alice and address the chaos unfolding outside the banquet hall. The tension in the room thickened as Peter grappled with the unexpected announcement and the consequences that followed.

Beatrix, noticing the chaos, commanded her knights. Beatrix: "Seize my nephew! He's not allowed to leave the banquet."

The knights moved swiftly, obstructing Peter's way.
