Mr. Lee opened his briefcase, pulling out some documents. "Given the circumstances, I suggest a reconsideration period," Mr. Lee began, his tone professional. "You'll live together for the next four months, attempt to understand each other better, and at the end of this period, if you still wish to proceed with the divorce, we will finalize it. This process is to ensure that both parties are certain of their decision."
Y/N glanced at JK, her heart pounding. She wasn't sure what to expect. JK's expression was unreadable, but she could see the tension in his posture.
"How do we know this will actually help?" JK asked, his tone skeptical.
"There's no guarantee," Mr. Lee admitted, "but it's an opportunity. Four months can provide the space needed to reassess your relationship without immediate pressure. It allows you both to reflect on what brought you together and whether those elements can be rekindled. Sometimes, distance and stress can distort our perceptions, and this period is meant to help clear that up. I know it'll be hard, but try to interact more. Don't ignore each other. The first days will be tough, but make an effort to engage with one another. Just for these four months, try to understand each other better."
Y/N bit her lip, feeling torn. She didn't want to prolong the pain, but she also wasn't ready to give up entirely. She looked at JK, searching his face for any sign of agreement or dissent.
Y/N and JK exchanged hesitant glances. The idea of spending more time together seemed daunting, yet there was an unspoken agreement to give it a try.
"What do you think?" JK asked Y/N, his voice carefully neutral.
Y/N hesitated but then nodded slowly. "I think...we can try."
Mr. Lee smiled, relieved. "Good. I'll prepare the necessary paperwork for this reconsideration process. Remember, there's no pressure to force a change. This is simply a chance to see if things can be different."
With that, Mr. Lee gathered his things and stood up. "I'll take my leave now. I'll be in touch to finalize the details. Take care, both of you."
As Mr. Lee left, Y/N and JK were left alone in the room. The silence between them was thick with unspoken words and unresolved emotions. They had agreed to the lawyer's suggestion, but the path ahead was uncertain.
The first few days passed in strained silence. They avoided each other as much as possible, moving through the mansion like strangers. The tension was palpable, each of them wrestling with their own thoughts and feelings.
Y/N found herself in the garden one afternoon, the place where she had always felt most at peace. She hoped the flowers and fresh air would calm her racing mind. As she wandered through the rows of blooming roses, she heard footsteps behind her. She turned to see JK standing there, looking as lost as she felt.
Neither of them spoke, the weight of their shared past hanging between them. JK gave her a small nod before turning and walking away, leaving Y/N to her thoughts. It was clear that rebuilding any semblance of a relationship would be an uphill battle, but the reconsideration process had begun, and only time would tell if they could find their way to each other.
One evening, as Y/N was arranging flowers in a vase, JK walked in. He paused, watching her for a moment before speaking. "Those look nice."
"Thanks," Y/N replied, not looking up.
There was a beat of silence before JK continued. "Do you need any help?"
