ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 𝟿: ᴠɪʀᴀɢᴏ

A chilly night cast upon Dragonspine once again. The icy mountain usually isn't this cold, but the surprising weather makes for a sleepless night. Blumenthals being situated in the middle of Dragonspine makes the icy weather surround them all over. This doesn't help Y/N focus on sleeping at all. 

"I think you met a Blumenthal when you were young. Maybe they're closer than you think."

"Why did I say that? I should've kept it a secret," Y/n murmured, making them sigh and sit up on their bed. There is enough moonlight coming in from the window to light their room. As they grabbed their blazer and left their room, Y/N remarked, "Maybe a walk will calm my mind, yeah."

Gudrun asked the butler, who was bowing courteously to Y/n, "Where are you going, Y/n-sama? It's a little bit late for you to have a mission, right?" 

As they opened the front door, Y/N remarked, "I cannot seem to sleep, Gudrun. Something is going on in my mind currently; a walk should suffice for now. I'll be back soon; don't worry."

"Y/n-sama, please be careful," Gudrun said as Y/n strolled down Dragonspine's snowy paths.

Mondstadt is such a comforting nation so much so that travelers are always coming back. There was something about the humming of the cicadas, the swaying of the trees, and the soothing breeze of the wind. The first nations that will welcome you with the start of your adventure. 

The breeze eases mental tension; walking causes your heart to race, which keeps your mind concentrated on sending messages to your body to increase blood flow. Even though the night air has a soothing quality, it also warns people of potential threats that may be hiding in the shadows.

Y/N came across the forest that once made them heroic by saving a redhead. "Hmm, this forest is filled with hilichurls. Someone needs to clear them," Y/N said, walking along the forest, careful for the dangers around them. 

While walking, they felt a presence walking by. They slowly hid behind a tree to look at whatever it was. While observing a tree, they heard a scream. As soon as they saw a young girl cornered by a hilichurl and a mitachurl, they took swift action.

"AHHH! Mommy!" The girl screamed, falling down on her buttocks and slowly inching away. As the mitachurl raised its axe, a massive icicle shot at it.

"Well, aren't you ruining my peace?" Y/N said as they summoned their bow and arrow. "Don't move, child; you don't want to get hurt," Y/N said as they shot the sky. 

When the icicle shot by the bow reached its highest point, it exploded into a tiny explosion. The icicles scattered around, summoning small but sharp icicles, piercing all of the hilichurls, and damaging the mitachurl even further. 

While the monsters get shot at, an icy mist surrounded the little girl, protecting her from the icicles. Now that they are all dead, the monsters are slowly digesting. Y/N released their breath and exhaled an icy mist.

Y/N walked towards the girl, releasing the small shield they had made, and kneeled in front of her. "Are you okay, child?" Y/N asked, the child looking at them with awe. "You didn't get hurt, did you?" The child shook their head but gasped. 

"Y/n! Behind you!" Somebody shouted, and before Y/n could look at who it was, an icy mist surrounded them. Y/N was able to protect the child and looked up, seeing a redhead running towards them. "Y/n!" 

"Diluc, take the girl!" Y/N shouted, immediately launching an attack at the enemy. A ruin guard. A very surprising enemy. "Tsk, where did you come from?" 

The big robot started getting ready to jump but his body stopped and froze. The icy mist that was protecting Y/N and the child earlier surrounded the robot and froze it. It seems like the robot stepped on an icy puddle before. 

Y/N shot through all of the robot's weak spots. The icicles are slowly melting, and water is seeping inside the robot through the small gaps between their joints. The robot slowly stopped working and completely shut down.

Slowly the icy mist around them began to swarm, and the mist all around them rose into the air, slowly forming a massive icicle. Diluc saw what they were doing and defended the child, but to his surprise, they were shielded by an ice barrier.

"Woah, their power," Diluc murmured, mesmerized by the power that Y/N can hold. "Don't look, okay? Our hero is just going to defeat the bad guy," Diluc said calmly to the little girl. She nodded and held Diluc's coat. 

With one cast of spell, the icicle fell and struck the ruin guard, the robot blowing into smithereens. With a sigh, Y/N approached the witness and raised the shield that was keeping them safe.

Y/n saw how Diluc was kneeling and remembered the same day when they saw the little Ragnvindr. They chuckled, the cuteness of the redhead still apparent to this day. The two witnesses looked up slowly and saw Y/N looking at them, an icy mist surrounding their bodies, proof that they just finished fighting a monster. 

Diluc's eyes showed so much emotion for that night—memories of his hero flashing in his mind, remembering the time he was saved. He remembered the time when he kept looking for them, just for that wish to come true right now. 

He finally saw the hero he'd been looking for. 

Y/N laughed as they noticed how those two were staring at them and remarked, "Well, I did not think there were two children in front of me."

This is a little shorter than usual, but I was going for more of a cliffhanger.
