Autumn has started in Mondstadt, and all of the plants have been slowly wilting. The citizens have been getting busier, getting ready for winter, and stocking up on food. Everyone has also been busy since there will be an event soon, a new event that the City of Mondstadt made.

The tavern is filled with people again, and this time its a lot busier than usual, which is good for the redhead stoic man, Diluc. It's been a while since the man saw Y/N, and he's been avoiding them, to say the least. Is it a little bit of a cowardly move? Yes, but he doesn't know how to deal with his feelings.

The busy tavern has been keeping him from thinking about it, drowning himself with a full workload, which makes people around him nervous and uptight. This usually happens when he's troubled, so it's not a surprise, but people around him can tell this is not the usual troublesome matter he's always thinking about.

This is more than just a pressing matter.

"Would you like to deliver this to Master Jean?" Y/N's father asked, holding a box filled with newly crafted papers. Y/N looked into it and sighed, looking away with a small pout. "I have a book to edit, so I'll be needing all of my hours today," the man said as he went inside his room again.

Y/N didn't talk back, knowing that their father would be busy for the rest of the day. They also saw this as an opportunity to go outside and maybe meet somebody that they knew along the way. Y/n walked towards the door, reaching their coat and putting it on, picking up the box and opening the door. "Gudrun, I'll be out for a bit in the city; I gotta deliver some stuff. Bye!" Y/N said, and the man bid them farewell.

Y/N started walking along the icy plains of Dragonspine, the cold never bothering them; the weather just makes them feel much stronger. Something that the Blumenthals have evolved to are people who strive for harsh weather to get stronger. Some people think its cool, but the Blumenthals think of it as a curse, something that they can't help.

It runs in the family, after all.

Y/N soon reached the bridge of Dragonspine and saw the ice spreading through the grass plains as well. "Hmm, I guess it's winter soon. The ice spreads a lot when winter happens," Y/N murmured, walking out of Dragonspine towards the city. "Let's just hope it's not the same winter as years ago."

After a long walk, Y/N arrived at the city gates and went towards Jean's office. When they arrived, they saw a certain redhead. Y/N's eyes brightened, and a small smile appeared. As they approached the office, the man turned away rather than greeting them. "Thank you, Jean. I'll be going now."

"Hey, ki-" Y/N tried to greet the redhead but was met with his back. Diluc did not even look at them, which confused them. They tried to look and remember the things they did, but nothing bad came to mind. Did they do something wrong? Their thoughts were cut off when Jean tapped their arm.

"Are you okay, Y/n? You seem to be hurt," the woman asked, her eyes holding worry about Y/n. She looked at the box that Y/N was holding and emitted a small gasp. "Oh, that must be heavy; please put them down, Y/N."

The Blumenthal moved on autopilot, their mind and body currently disconnecting from each other. Everything that Jean said just went into one ear and out the other, just their minds repeating Diluc's turning away from them and not even greeting them. "I'll go now, Jean; my father said to wait for the books soon." Y/N said and left the office, Jean looking at their backs with worries.

"Oh, Y/N, you didn't hear what I said."
