Taehyung sat on his bed, tears streaming down his face as he finished reading Yazia's letter. The room felt heavy with her absence, and the pain of missing her was almost unbearable. He closed the diary, holding it close to his chest, when suddenly, a familiar voice broke through his sorrow.
"You are crying again. Reading this will not ever stop that?"
Startled, Taehyung sniffed and looked up, his eyes widening in disbelief. There she stood, Yazia, wearing her hijab loosely around her head and holding her abaya.
"What can I do? I missed you," he said, his voice thick with emotion, still sniffing.
"But I just went to my parents' home for 2 days. What's the matter in missing me, huh?" she replied, placing her abaya down and removing her hijab, shaking her head at him.
Taehyung stood up, wiping his tears quickly as he moved towards her. "Now you are scolding me instead of giving me a hug," he said, pouting slightly.
Yazia shook her head, a smile playing on her lips. "How old are you, Mr. Kim, huh? You've got a daughter who is 14. Grow up a little," she teased, though her eyes were filled with affection.
He chuckled softly, the sadness in his heart easing a bit with her playful reprimand. "I can't help it," he said, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into a tight embrace. He kissed her forehead tenderly, then cupped her cheeks, planting gentle kisses on her eyes and nose, before caressing her hair. They weren't as long as they used to be, having thinned and been cut short due to the chemotherapy.
"You know how much I miss you when you go away from me," Taehyung murmured as he played with her hair a little, then tucked it behind her ear.
"But why were you reading that diary again? It's useless now because I am here with you," Yazia said, tilting her head.
Taehyung smiled and sighed. "It reminds me of the difficult times we had. You just lay in my arms, lifeless, me begging you to hold on, and then that operation. Sitting in front of the operating theater, my mind had only one thought: how much I love you and how much I want to see you happy, even if it's away from me," he said.
She hugged him, placing her head on his chest. "It's ended. Allah heard us out. I came back to life, and we got our gift too," she said.
He chuckled. "The best day of my life was getting you back like a miracle, and then Anaya, the best gift from Allah after you," he said.
She nodded and pulled away slightly. "But where is your gift?" she asked, thinking about Anaya.
"I put her to sleep," he said with a smile.
Yazia nodded. "I'll see her," she said and was about to leave when he gently pulled her back by her wrist. She collided with his chest, and he held her loosely by the waist.
"First, see me, my dear wife. You should care about your only husband," he said with a playful glint in his eyes.
Yazia raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Care about you? Who do you think keeps you from wearing mismatched socks and forgetting your keys? You should be thanking me for all my hard work," she teased, giving him a quick peck on the lips. "But fine, I'll indulge you for a bit before I go check on our daughter."
