The thunderstorm going on outside woke her from her slumber. After having peeled the piece of paper off her cheek, her eyes grew accustomed to her dimly lit apartment. She was thankful that she hadn't seemed to lose power. Outside the window, the storm was raging with such ferocity that she couldn't even see her neighbors across the way. It was as if she was isolated on an island of her own.
It was then that she heard another crash, but this time it wasn't the thunder from the storm. This crash sounded closer. It sounded like it was coming from the small room where her laundry machine and washer were. As her eyes flicked to the semi open door, her breath froze seeing what she thought to be a slight shadow.
Grabbing up a pen and holding it near her head as she walked towards the room, she felt like her heart was beating in her ears. At least the storm outside kept whoever might be in there from hearing her approach.
'You should be calling the police you moron,' thought Bonita as she got closer and closer to her destination.
Even though Bonita knew that was what she should do, she also knew that the storm outside had probably flooded the streets and made any sort of emergency response practically impossible for the time being. She knew she would just have to face whatever threat may be in her apartment solo. She never wished for the phrase 'the pen is mightier than the sword' to be more literal than in that moment since to get to the kitchen where the knives were would mean she'd have to cross in front of where the noise was unarmed.
Her hand trembled slightly as she reached out to grab the doorknob, slowly pushing it open after taking one more breath to calm her nerves.
The moment she did, she locked eyes with the man crouched in front of her washing machine, the two of them both letting out a scream.

Here we go...again. 🙈😂
This time I decided to try my hand at a Stray Kids fanfiction. I'm a bit nervous, but hopefully it goes well. I feel like every first fanfiction with a different band always brings with it a fresh round of nerves.
This story idea came to me while listening to "Lose My Breath". A lot of the time, music/music videos can unlock an entire story within me and that was the case this time.
