The next day, it was (Y/N)'s turn to leave for Midgar Academy in the Royal Capital. After saying goodbye to Cid and his parents, he boarded the carriage and left the city for the station.
On the train, (Y/N) sat in his seat, looking out of the window and thinking about Alpha and the Seven Shadows.
Alpha had explained to (Y/N), after he'd given them the missions he wanted, that she and the other Shadows were going to expand Shadow Garden to give them a fighting chance against the cult. Seeing the advantages this would bring them, he allowed them to leave. Even though he knew he'd miss them.
Of course, Cid didn't believe anything. Even when (Y/N) had tried to explain.
But Cid being... Cid had replied, "Oh, so they even got you to take part in their role-play. Well, you can play again in another 2 years. Have fun, bro.
(Y/N) sighed, remembering that answer.
"... Honestly, I know I wanted a little brother or sister.... But I never thought my little brother would be such a jerk... Anyway, he'll come to understand that the cult business is real... I hope so..." He thought.

2 years later, at Midgar Academy, (Y/N), now 17, emerged from class holding a graded copy of a recent exam. Seeing that he had a near-perfect score of 92, he put the paper in his bag, not really caring.
"The educational system at this school is less advanced than it was in my old life. Easy, but boring all the same. Anyway, what's next for me? Nice, looks like I've got sword practice next." He thought as he started walking to his next class.
It's now been 2 years and 7 months since (Y/N) enrolled at the Royal Academy of Midgar, where students trained to become the Knights of the Kingdom of Midgar in order to protect it. This is the place where the first princess, Iris Midgar, learned to use the sword.
But all this didn't really pique (Y/N)'s interest, since all he wanted was a good school life before graduating next year.
As he stepped out onto the campus, he spotted his little brother, Cid. Even after two years, he was still playing the role of a "crowd pleaser". It was strange for him, who knew what his brother was capable of.
"Hi, Cid."
"What's up, bro?" Cid asked.
"How did you pass the test?" (Y/N) asked in turn.
He smiled."
"Oh yeah, I think I got at least a 53 or something. So that should give me at least a C or lower in my class. I had to lower my magic considerably so they wouldn't notice." Cid smiled.
" ... Cid, I understand you don't want to stand out, but you should at least aim for a B. Just because you get a good grade doesn't mean you won't be a crowd pleaser. On the contrary, you'll attract more shit flies who'll want you to be their buddy for help." (Y/N) argued.
As (Y/N) and Cid continued talking, two other students came towards them.
One was a student with dirty blond hair and the other was completely bald. They were Cid's friends, Skel and Po.
