AMIAH TRUED FIGHTING BACK TEARS AS SHE LEFT THE HUB. Still, the beginning of tears blurred her vision and she bumped into Uriah, "Sorry."

"Don't worry about it, newbie," he grabbed her hand, "You're going to want to avoid this crowd so we can get a head start."

"Head start? On what?"

Uriah smiled mischievously and navigated them through the crowd, "We've got a train to catch," was all he said before breaking out into a run, all but dragging Amiah behind him.

Amiah tried to match his pace. She was pretty fast when she wanted to be. But her legs were shorter, and she wasn't in the best shape. Still, she ignored the burning feeling in her chest and kept running. Up ahead, she could see Lynn and Marlene – jumping onto a moving train?

Her eyes widened and she almost lost her footing. If it weren't for Uriah she would have tumbled to the ground. When they were close to the train, Uriah turned around and grinned, "Get ready to jump."

He let go of her hand and started running at one of the open compartments. Amiah wasted no time trying to do the same. There was no way she was going to fail initiation this early. Running as fast as she could and with a strength she didn't know she possessed, Amiah jumped onto the side of the train, holding onto the side of it for dear life.

Uriah leaned out of the train and used one arm to tug her into the compartment. She stumbled onto the train and landed flat on her ass. Once she caught her breath, Amiah thanked her new friend breathlessly.

He shrugged like it was nothing, "Dauntless gotta stick together." Then he started chattering excitedly with Lynn and Marlene about initiation and how fun it was going to be. They left it open for her to join the conversation but she needed a second to process the last hour or so.

Amiah leaned her head back against the side of the train and closed her eyes. That was the craziest thing she'd ever done. And initiation had only just started.

Someone fell into her lap, knocking the wind out of her, "Oof." Amiah reached out to stabilize the person. It was the Abnegation girl with the blonde hair from the testing center. Amiah hadn't noticed she'd even chosen Dauntless.

"Sorry," said the girl breathlessly as she quickly got out of Amiah's lap and took a seat beside her instead. The Abnegation girl gave her a smile, looking all kinds of uncomfortable. She was obviously out of her depth. Amiah could relate. "I'm Beatrice." Trying to make her feel more at ease, Amiah smiled back, "Amiah."

"You're Drew's sister," said a third voice Amiah didn't recognize. Both girls looked towards the person who had just spoken. Christina. She was even prettier up close.

Light freckles dusted her cheeks, and her brown skin was practically glowing. Amiah couldn't help but feel a little jealous. She understood why all the guys were crazy over her.

Clearing her throat awkwardly, "You know him?"

Christina laughed, "He's a little hard to ignore." Amiah shifted uncomfortably. She knew the girl didn't mean it as a good thing. Beatrice looked between them in confusion. "I'm Christina."
