The next morning was peaceful. The sun was shining through Camilas curtains, and even though it hurt her eyes it felt amazing.

There was also absolutely no noise in the house. Complete silence. That was unusual but she did vaguely remember Colby saying they had a job so maybe that was the reason.

Camila decided to be a bit more social with her life, or herself in a sense. She got ready, putting a pair of shorts and a shirt on since it was actually quite hot, then clipped up her hair and went to get herself some breakfast.

She also checked the time when she got downstairs. It wasn't morning, it was 2:30pm. How long had she been sleeping?

"Oh, hey, Camila."

"Hi, Jake." Camila yawned, pouring herself a glass of water.

"Are you only now waking up?"

"Yep."

"And you're eating breakfast?"

"Yep."

"And you don't care?"

"Nope."

"Great."

Camila chuckled, putting some bread in the toaster and sitting at the kitchen island with Jake.

"Got anything planned today?" Jake asked, his voice was distant since he was more concentrated on his hands, his fingers were spread apart and he was stabbing in between them with a pen.

"Nope, is anyone even here?"

"Nah, all on a job. Well, Corey's on a seperate one with Ariya, then Sam and Colby are together and the girls aren't here today, think they're seeing family...I don't really know." Jake said, putting down the pen.

"So it's just me and you?"

"Yep. I'm like 99.9% sure Sam and Colby will be back in the next hour but when the girls go to see their family the house is usually dead silent."

"Wait- so who lives here and who doesn't?"

"Me, Corey, Sam, Colby, Kat, Tara, Devyn, Stas and now you."

"What about those two guys? Ariya and Kevin, right?" Camila said, taking a bite of her food.

"They used to live here, they moved a couple days before they messed up with you. Dunno why, I actually think they're thinking of leaving the crime life."

"You can do that? You can just leave?"

"Fuck no." Jake laughed. "You can try. But trust me, it will be hard. Everyone involved in crime is going to think of you as a pussy if you just up and leave. You can't just find a cute little suburban house in a rich neighbourhood, you run. All the time. You'll never catch a break because everyone knows at least something secret that no one else needs to know. You'll be tortured for information."

"Jesus fucking Christ." Camila mumbled, her mouth filled with toast as she stared at Jake with wide eyes.

"Sorry, that was a lot." Jake chuckled. "It's the truth, though. Sam, Corey and I hated bringing Tara, Devyn and Kat into this because we knew how much damage it would do to their lives. We tried so hard to keep them a secret, but it just made us distracted. So we had to make it known that they existed and that we 'didn't care' but we did."

"How did you keep them safe?"

"Colby, actually." Jake said, causing Camilas eyebrows to crease. "He bought another place to live. He had us move there when people were breaking in, looking for the girls just to taunt us. So, he bought a house and he figured everything out. He made sure Tara, Kat and Devyn knew everything about their new life, and ever since he's never let nothing happen to them."
