The last thing I remember the day of the incident was his face—Karma, smiling at me. The last thing I longed for before the darkness took me was him—to see him. Karma.
And when I opened my eyes again, he was there. Karma was there smiling at me.
Sunod-sunod na pumatak ang mga luha ko. Nabasa ang mga pisngi ko na parang umuulan.
Nabalot ng pangamba ang mukha niya. Inabot niya ang pisngi ko at pinunasan ang mga luha ko.
"Are you alright, darling?" he asked. "What's wrong?"
I pursed my lips, shaking my head. "Nothing."
I smiled at him even though my tears still won't stop. Hawak ang aking pisngi, pinagdikit niya ang aming noo.
"I'm here, darling. Please don't cry," he whispered.

Karma took my hand and pulled towards a picnic setup on the grass. We sat down and enjoyed the view of the sunset while we ate a cake and sandwiches. After that picnic, he took me to a lake where we swam in the clear water. Matapos sa mag-swimming ay natulog kami sa isang cabin. Magkatabi kami. And I slept in his arms.
The next morning, we went on a road trip. We stopped by gas stations. We ate in restaurants. We then arrived at our destination–the beach. Nag-swimming kami ulit. Matapos ay kumain kami and then we walked around the beach. When the night came, he laid down a blanket on the sand. Humiga kami roon at pinanood ang mga bituin sa kalangitan.
"Sonya," he called.
Nilingon ko siya sa aking tabi. Our eyes met and it's like I saw the sky in his eyes again. "Yeah?"
"I'm sorry for leaving you." He smiled. "I love you, darling."
