"Should I wear a turtleneck?"
Tumigil ako sa pag-aayos ko sa aking mahabang buhok at nilingon si Karma. Humarap siya sa akin at pinakita ang suot niyang simpleng puting t-shirt at cargo pants. He looks effortlessly handsome.
"Why?" I asked. "Your outfit is good. You can move well in that. Kapag nag-turtleneck ka, masasakal ka."
"Well, there will be kids. And..." He stretched his arms, showing it, and he also gestured at his neck.
His tattoos are visible because of the round collar of his shirt and because the sleeves were short. But, to me, that's what makes him look good.
His tattoos sit really well on his pale skin. The black inks that spread across his arms fully and even to his neck.
"It's fine," I brushed it off, looking back at the mirror to continue fixing my ponytail. "Those are just tattoos. Almost everyone has tattoos nowadays," I added, looking at him through the mirror.
"Not this much," he said, his tone dripping with worry. "Won't I scare the kids?"
Bumaba ang aking mga balikat nang magpakawala ako ng hininga. Siguro ay dahil busy siya sa mga ginagawa niya noon na hindi na niya alam ang takbo ng mundo sa paligid niya. Hindi ko naman din siya masisisi. People have probably deemed him scary before because of his tattoos.
"Lucky," tawag ko sa aming anak.
Nasa hallway lang sa labas ng aming kwarto si Lucky at kalaro sila Milo at Miko kaya narinig kaagad niya ang tawag ko. Pumasok siya sa kwarto at tumungo sa closet kung nasaan kami ni Karma.
"Yes, Mommy?" sagot niya habang kasunod ang dalawa niyang aso.
"Does Daddy look scary?" I asked, eyes on his father.
Humarap naman si Karma sa anak niya at pinakita ang sarili niya. Tinitigan ni Lucky si Karma mula ulo hanggang paa. His innocent expression did not change. There was no hint of fear in his eyes even when his eyes roamed on Karma's arms.
"No. He's not scary," sagot nito. "Daddy looks cool!"
