It's been a year since Logan and I broke up.
I'm okay. I'm fine. I'm perfect."You're perfect." my boyfriend kisses my lips and I smile. Or try to, pressing my lips onto his. I never forgot Logan, I'm just trying to move on, hoping he's doing the same. He lied and betrayed me, I shouldn't still be madly in love with him.
Especially now that I'm dating Chase. Yeah, the guy mom and dad once set me up with, I gave him a chance after he desperately called me every day. But it's fine, he's treating me quite nicely. I think I might like him, maybe it's for the better anyway. Logan and I didn't work and it's normal to take a while for a broken heart to heal. I'll be over him in no time, we weren't meant to be anyway.Chase starts to press his lips harder onto mine, his hand trailing down my back and I try to hold as still as possible, my heart racing. His teeth sink into my lip and I stand up on my toes, raking a hand through his brown hair. "You need to leave for work." Chase took over his dads company two years ago and is working all the time. "I'd rather stay with you." he chuckles against my lips and I pull back, fixing his grey suit jacket. "I'll see you tonight." I peck his lips as he groans. "I love you." he shouts through the staircase of my apartment and I laugh. "I love you." I answer shutting close my door.
I lean against the door, my eyes scanning my messy apartment. Maybe Chase will allow me to move in with him sometime but for now I'll just keep on sharing a small apartment with my dog. Still have no idea how she found me. It's enough though, I'm able to work. As if I work...
Fine. I haven't been working since the break-up. Somehow my brain just isn't working and every word I write, I hate. I'm taking a break and I don't know how long my money is going to be able to hold me up since the apartment isn't that cheap. But it's fine.I walk into my kitchen when I spot a yellow sticky note on the counter. Smilingly, I pick it up.
I love you he wrote and I can't help but grin. He's kinda sweet, actually.Suddenly the doorbell rings and I quietly make my way over to the door, peeking through the little hole. I've learned to be more careful when I'm alone, closing windows, locking doors and all that shit. I have taught myself self-defense and Cole has helped me with some knife throwing. I'm not that good at it though.
Speaking of the devil, I spot Cole patiently waiting in front of the door and smile, opening it. "The fuck took you so long?" he gives me a shove in the head, walking past me and over to my refrigerator. "It's nice to see you too, Cole." I shut the door, leaning against the counter. "Believe me, I know." he winks, taking my last string-cheese. This asshole."What are you doing here Cole?" I snort, crossing my arms. "What? Can't I visit my favorite cousin? Don't tell Brie." I laugh, pretending to zip up my mouth. "No, why are you actually here?" I raise an eyebrow at him when I see a small blush crawl up his cheeks. "What would you think about me proposing to my girlfriend?" he whispers as my jaw drops. Cole and his girlfriend, Stacey, have been dating for five years now. I can't believe this is happening, this is so exciting. "What do I think? Well, of course I think it's a great idea," I squeal, jumping in circles around him as he laughs. "How are you going to tell her?" I smile as he scratches the back of his neck. "That's what I wanted to ask you about," he shrugs, shyly and I grin, "What do women like these days?" I snort at his stupidity but he just rolls his eyes, giving me a shove.
