Chapter 12: World Stop

Y/n Pov

"Man it is hot as hell out here in Phoenix twin" I said to Keem over the phone. "It must be nice the weather down here been bipolar as hell today" he responded back. "What you and Von been doing over there? My house bet not be tore up" I seriously joked because let them get just a second to mess something up chiii. "Ain't nobody tore up nothing twin, but we just been chilling Von still on the game" he said looking through my refrigerator. I noticed from his facial expression that he didn't see anything he wanted or wanted to cook. "I'm finna send you some money for food real quick" I said making him look down to his phone.

"Ahh thank you sister gworl you are the best I love love love ya" he said in a high pitched voice as I laughed at him clapping. "Man shut up and let me send this money to yo greedy ass" I said rolling my eyes playfully. "Ok ok, i'ma pay for me and Von and if I have any change i'll send that back over to you" he said now snacking on some hot fries. "Nah you don't got to Keem you can keep it I ain't tripping" I said shaking my head. "No i'ma send it back cause you always been holding me down and by my side so its the least I could do for real" he said as I nodded my head.

"Ight if you say so but I gotta- oh hey ma you ready to go?" I paused as Rhyne walked into the room. "Yeah everyone is already loading their bags onto the bus, who you on the phone with?" she asked hopping onto the bed poking her head in the camera. "Just Akeem big back ass" I said making him side eye me. "Hi my bookie butt!" Rhyne said waving and smiling, "hey sister in law how are you?" he asked smiling as Rhyne took my phone out of my hand. They started having their own little conversation not even worrying about me anymore. 

"Yesss I saw the episode last night friend I said now why would Mr. Krabs do that?" she asked him with a twisted face. "Rightttt!" he said agreeing, "alrightttt time to wrap this up ya'll got each other number so ya'll can talk whenever ya'll want to" I said grabbing my phone back from her. "I LOVE YOU BOOKIE BUTT!" Rhyne said jumping on my back, "I LOVE YOU MORE FREN!" he yelled back as I held her up with one arm. "Ight I'ma text you later twin I love you" I said, "I love you more sis i'll holla at ya'll later" he said hanging up. "You can get off me now?" I asked placing her back down onto the bed.

"I like being on your back though its wide enough for me to be on" she said making me send her a unimpressed face. "I'm sorry bubba I was just playing" she said hugging me and kissing my cheek. "Mhm whatever c'mon bra" I said rolling my eyes, "stoppp bae c'mere" she said pulling my arm. "What Rhyne we gotta go" I said letting out a puff of air. "I'm sorry baby I was just joking can you accept my apology?" she asked me softly making me smile slightly. "Yes I accept your apology so can we go now" I asked ready to leave. "Unt unt you already know how this go" she said pulling be back once more.

I leaned down placing a quick kiss on her lips making her look at me crazy. "Girl act right before I knock some sense into you" she said in the most kindest way possible. "My fault ma" I smirked as I connected our lips into a much more slower kiss. "Mmm now that's more like it" she said pecking my lips, "now lets go before coach cusses us both out" I said grabbing her hand and walking us out of the hotel.

(Time Skip)

"P AND R CHEY!" Tanisha yelled calling out a pick and roll set by Cheyenne. Cheyenne set the hard screen rolling quickly to the basket as Rhy passed her the ball. She laid the ball up getting the and-1 making the bench go wild. Many people were betting on Phoenix to blow us out of the water but its been the complete opposite. For lack of better words we were beating the hell outta they ass. Sure we came out with a bit of a rocky start but were settled in now and have a 20 point lead. 

The next play D Rob ran one of their plays specifically set up for Rhyne and her 3 point range. Rhyne ran down into the paint with her defender chasing her like a lost puppy but she quickly turned around running her defender into the screen. She ran to the top of the key grabbing the pass from danielle setting her feet and shot the ball. I stood up holding up a 3 as I watched the ball swish through the net. The glorious sound of the net rubbing against the ball sounding so pretty. "LET'S GO RHYNE!" I cheered more hyped then her as she did her 3 point celly.

We were now in the last 10 seconds into the game and we were up 89-65. The girls played a amazing game tonight but Rhyne took it into her hands to make one more highlight play. She drew up a play for her to get the ball and hit a buzzer beater 3 to end the game. It was a little risky because that shot could affect her 3pt percentage, but it couldn't do any harm to the game at least haha. Naz was inbounding the ball waiting for Rhyne to get free and open. Lish set a solid screen in front of Rhyne's defender as Rhy shot the ball quickly as the time dwindled down.

Everyone on the sideline was standing as we watched the ball move in slow motion through the air. I held my breath as I watched the ball roll around the rim and finally fall through. We all cheered as the buzzer went off signaling the game coming to an end. "Hell yeah Rhy that's the shit I like to see!" AD said dapping her up. "Thank you guys" she said laughing as we went through the handshake line before walking back to the locker room. I walked up behind her picking her up causing her to let our a shriek.

"Baby what the hell" she said giggling as I sat her back on the ground. I grabbed her by her face pulling her into a kiss as we both cheesed into it. "I'm so proud of youuuu" I said spinning her around as she wrapped her legs around my waist. "Thank you bubba 31 points ain't that bad huh" she said smiling. "That's more than good it was amazing especially for your second game back" I said carrying her to the locker room. "Ahhh snap the queen Rhyne Howard has arrived!" Naz said getting everyone hype for her.

"That's right give it up for me you little ones!" she joked making a everyone laugh. I sat down in the seat in front of her locker as we waited for coach T to come in and give her post game speech. I laid my head on Rhyne's shoulder gently as she scratched my scalp with her acrylic nails giving me the best sensation. We waited for a couple more minutes until the coaching staff al finally walked in as everyone went quiet, "Great game today ladies! It's hard to win one on the road but we pulled it off so hats off to all of you" she said as everyone clapped nodding.

"But I would like to shout someone out who had a stellar performance and is player of the game... Ya'll give a round clap for Rhyne!" she said as everyone clapped. I kissed her cheek making her blush trying to hide her face as she smiled. "Don't hide you're face beautiful soak in all of this were proud of you" I whispered into her ear as she hugged my neck kissing the top of my head. I wrapped my arms securely around her waist hugging her tightly enjoying her warmth. "Great win today now you guys go ahead and shower get some rest cause we head back to the A early in the morning!" Coach finished walking out.

Everyone continued back their conversations as I stayed silent still holding Rhy as she talked with Lish and Naz. She started the scratch my scalp again calming me making me start to feel a little sleepy. My eyes started to get heavy from the sleepiness trying to overcome me. As my eyes slowly started to close I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket. I grabbed it and seen it was from a unknown number that I didn't have saved. I would usually decline these types of calls but something told me to answer it. 

"Hello? Is this Y/n Y/ln guardian of Devon Y/ln?" I heard a professional male voice ask. "Uh yes who is this?" I asked confused, "This is Doctor Adams, i'm calling to inform you on the critical condition of your brother who was shot multiple times along with another young man identified as Akeem Briggs" he said making all blood rush from out of my face. I stood there in shock at a loss for words. It's like my whole world stopped right in that moment and everything was at a complete stand still.

What did he mean a young man identified as....

(A/N) Well I be damned....Definitely not the type of news Y/n would be expecting to get that could possibly change her life forever.
