Chapter 13: I Can't Let You Go

Y/n Pov

"W-which hospital a-are they at?" I asked shaking catching Rhyne, Naz and Lish's attention. "Their at Emory University ma'am" the doctor responded. "Ok i'll be there as soon as I can thank you" I said quickly hanging up the phone. "You ok bubba?" Rhyne whispered looking at me worried, I tapped her leg signaling for her to get up. I stood up rubbing my eyes trying to fight back my tears. "What's wrong sis you ok" Naz asked in a concerned tone. I couldn't speak all I could do was shake my head no. "What happened? Who was that on the phone?" Lish asked.

"I-uh I gotta go..." I said looking around, "what leave? why you gotta leave?" Rhyne asked me. "Von and Akeem are i-in the hospital" I said lowly sniffling, "what?!" Rhyne whisper yelled bringing me into a hug. "What happened to them are they ok?" Naz rushed out, "the doctor said they were shot multiple times and are in critical condition" I said wiping my tears. "Oh my God..." Lish said shocked, "you need to go girl like right now" Lish said. I nodded going to go grab my bookbag then head to the hotel. "Baby wait up for me!" Rhyne said running after me, "what are you doing Rhy?" I asked putting my stuff inside the uber.

"I'm coming with you Lish and Naz covering for me, plus I need to make sure my brothers are ok" she said holding my hand. I nodded my head as drove off heading to the hospital. We quickly rushed inside to the hotel grabbing all my stuff and quickly checking out heading to the airport. The entire ride I stared out of the window thinking about how I could've possibly let this happen, and praying that would be ok because I can't lose the both of them. My entire life won't be the same... I won't be the same.

(Time Skip)

" I'm looking for Devon Y/ln and Akeem Briggs" I said with labored breaths from running into the hospital. "Hi ma'am I don't have any information on their rooms for right now but you can have a seat and a doctor will be right with you" she said politely. "I need to see my brothers no!-" I got interrupted by Rhyne taking a hold of my arm. "Thank you ma'am we appreciate it" she smiled pulling me away. I sat down bouncing my leg rapidly up in down as I zoned out on the white marble floor. "Baby calm down I know you don't want to hear this right now but everything is going to be alright just breathe" she said rubbing my hand. 

I looked at her as tears rolled down my eyes like a waterfall, "those are my brothers..." I said barely above a whisper shaking my head. "I know bubba I do trust me, we just have to pray that God is watching over them" she said pulling me into her chest. "You have me right here baby, i'm sticking beside you through this entire thing, just me and you" she said squeezing me tighter and kissing my forehead. I closed my eyes as I let my body start to relax in her warm claming embrace. I'm so thankful to have someone like her right now in this moment. Without her I probably would've spiraled by now.

"Hello are you Ms. Y/ln?" A man in a doctors coat said walking up us. "Yes I am are my brothers alright?" I asked frantically standing up, "well Mr. Y/ln just got out of surgery and he's expected to make a full recovery but he is still in critical condition as of right now , but Mr. Briggs is still in surgery so i'll be able to give you more information when he's out" he said as I nodded. "Can I at least go see Devon?" I asked like a helpless child. "Yes ma'am follow me" he said leading the way down the cold hallways. We finally made it to Von's room but the doctor hesitated to open the door.

"Before you walk in I must let you know he was shot 4 times with 1 hitting a vital organ and the other 3 causing serious blood loss" the doctor said. "From what we can conclude from the wounds of both boys and the information from the police Mr. Briggs stepped in front of most of the bullets leaving him with 9 bullet wounds" he said making my heart drop down to my stomach. "Ni-nine times?" I asked getting emotional all over again. "Yes ma'am" he said nodding, "i'll give you all some time alone, also i'm Dr. Adams" he said moving out of the way opening the door and walking away.
