"Hey, kid."

"Bobby? What the hell are you doing here?" You smiled brightly and grabbed the elderly man in a hug, "Rufus didn't mention you being on this too."

"He was never one for words even though he talks out of his ass." He grumbled with a smile.

"Shut up, Bobby." Rufus spat back and you embraced him in a hug even though he pretended to protest at first.

"Catch me up," You brought your bags into the motel room and they followed you while you settled in, "Any clue what we're dealing with?"

"Not sure," Bobby scratched his beard, "I was thinking it might be-"

"A werewolf." Rufus cut him off and Bobby smacked his arm with a look of annoyance.

"It's not a werewolf you dumbass!"

"The victims?" You asked, holding back a laugh, before Rufus could respond, "Any connections?"

"They're all mothers." Rufus told you with a shrug.

"Yeah and they have a book club." Bobby added and you nodded.

"Witchcraft gone wrong?" You suggested, "Or maybe they messed with the wrong demon? Made a crappy deal?"

"No hex bags," Bobby shook his head, "No sulfur or anything demonic."

"No fluids either." Rufus pointed out and you and Bobby gave him a look of disgusted confusion, "That says a lot."

"Alright," You shook your head, "And no witnesses?"

"No, but the husband and kids were in the room when it happened." Bobby told you with sadness in his tone.

"Damn." You breathed and then looked up, "And they didn't see anything?"

"Said they didn't." Rufus nodded and then peered at you, "What're you thinking, kid?"

"I've never seen one before but..."

"Spit it out." Bobby encouraged.

"Shojo."

"It tracks." Bobby walked away from the computer you and Rufus were still huddled around, "One woman in the book club had a shipment come in from Japan not a week before the first death."

"At least we know what we're dealing with." You sighed, shutting the laptop, "And we know where it'll be next."

"What I'm confused about is why go after these women?" Bobby wondered out loud.

"The one owns some pretty expensive liquors, she's practically famous for it," You thought out loud, "But she only got it after both her parents and brother 'mysteriously' died."

"You think she killed them?" Rufus asked and you shrugged, "But why is it going after her friends?"

"Maybe they helped," You stood up, grabbing your coat, "They were pretty tight knit, and I've seen people do more for less."

"It's possible she wanted the Shojo to kill her friends because one of them threatened to snitch. The Shojo will kill the master at the end once the job is done, but she probably doesn't know that yet." Bobby nodded.

"So, this Japanese spirit is angry?" Rufus suggested and you shrugged again, "We should go before another lady dies."

"Yeah and the spirit saved the best for last," You smirked, "The one who gained the most from her family's death."

"How come I've gotta be the sober driver?" Bobby whined in the driver's seat of your jeep while you and Rufus sat in the back downing the bottles of whiskey and vodka (not a great mix) in the back seats.
