You jerked awake, practically coughing up a lung as you tried to catch your breath, and then locked eyes on Cas. He looked away relieved, searching for something, before returning his gaze to you. He smiled, but it was a mixture of disbelief and happiness.
"Cas?" You asked, climbing out of the jeep, "What the hell happened?"
"Y/n," He breathed, pulling you into a tight embrace, and you immediately hugged him back, "You're okay."
"Cas, you're you again?" You smiled, "And you healed me?"
"I got my grace back," He nodded with a small smile, eyes shining, "Thanks to what you did."
"Distracted a couple of dicks and got tortured?" You laughed, "I must've passed out," You thought out loud, looking around, "Where are we?"
"Y/n..." He trailed off as you walked around a little bit, stretching your legs.
"Oh! We're in Lebanon," You smiled brighter when you recognized a few shops in the distance, "Thanks for driving us back, I'll take it from here."
You went to round the car to the driver's seat, but he grabbed your wrist, stopping you. You shot him a curious look and he gave you a worried frown.
"Y/n, I-" He stopped himself, sighing and shaking his head, "I think I should drive back; you just woke up."
"Yeah, you're probably right," You laughed, getting into the front seat and he rounded the car to the driver's seat, "But, Cas?" You got his attention after he closed the door, "Thanks for the win."
After he shot you a small, weak smile, he sped off for the bunker.
You asked about your phone and he told you he lost his too, must've been left in heaven by accident, so you both stopped to get a new ones before pulling up to the bunker.
"Home sweet home." You sighed, climbing out of the jeep and shutting the door.
You led the way happily inside carrying your duffel, being greeted by Jack and Sam snapping their attentions up to you when you entered.
"There you are!" Sam called, wrapping you in a hug when you got to the end of the steps, before doing the same to Cas, "We haven't heard from you guys in days, what happened?"
"Days?" You looked to Cas in confusion and he kept his eyes on them, avoiding you.
"Sorry about that," He offered an apologetic smile to Sam and Jack, "Is Dean here?"
"He went out looking for you," Jack told him, "Yesterday."
You widened your eyes and fished the new phone out of your pocket, dialing his number.
"What?" He greeted harshly after only a few rings.
"Dean, we're-"
"Oh my god, Y/n," He breathed, cutting you off, "Are you okay??"
"Yeah, we're fine, we're back at the bunker."
"Good, good," He took a deep breath and then added, "I found your phone."
"Really?" You asked, "Where?"
"Outside the entrance to hell."
Your blood ran cold and you looked to Cas who met your eye before understanding that you knew something and lowering his head. He scratched the back of his neck nervously before looking up to meet your eyes again.
"Hell?" You asked Cas more than Dean.
"Yeah, what were you doing there?" You heard Dean ask, but your mind was swimming.
"Just get back safe, okay?" You requested and then added, "I'll see you soon." Before hanging up.
"Y/n, I can explain."
"Why would you need to go to hell?" Jack wondered out loud before Sam cut in.
"Hey, Jack, why don't we um, make Y/n some food, she's probably starving."
"Okay!" Jack cheered with a smile, leaving the room with Sam.
"Cas," You searched his face for answers, "Why did Dean find my phone outside of hell?"
"The trip to heaven didn't go as planned."
"What happened after that angel tortured me?" You whispered dangerously low.
"You didn't make it."
"I died?" You widened your eyes at him, "How - how am I here right now? Please tell me you didn't make a deal or something. You still have your grace, right? You didn't have to use it up on me? Cas, whatever you did, I'm not worth it and you should've left me for-"
"What?" He cut off your panicked rambling with a look of disgust, "You think you're worth that little?" He asked angrily and you clamped your mouth shut, not used to hearing this sharp tone come from him, "I went to the cage, I was so close to letting Lucifer out to get you back, and it would've been worth it."
You stared at him for a long moment, processing what he said.
"No, it wouldn't have."
"The only reason he isn't loose is because Rowena suggested going to Michael first," He told you, ignoring what you said, "I told him I'd give my grace, my life, anything to get you back, and I meant it."
"Michael?"
"The archangel."
"Cas, you dumbass!" You shouted, "Why would you offer your life for mine?! You're family and if they lost you – if I lost you -"
"You're family too!" He shouted back.
"No. This is wrong. I should've stayed dead," You glared at him, "I told you what to do if anything happened."
"I was supposed to leave you hanging in that room?" He looked at you like you had lost your mind, "If it was reverse, you would've done the same."
"Not the point."
"Isn't it?"
"And what if Michael comes back?" You asked with raised eyebrows, "What if he expects you to return the favor and go on some insane mission for him that gets you killed?"
"Then that's on me."
"Yeah, well, that's not how I see it." You huffed and he tilted his head curiously at you.
"Are you going to tell them?" He asked in a whisper after a moment and you sighed in frustration.
"Well, I think Sam and Jack know," You smirked, "We've kind of been yelling and they're right down the hall."
"What about Dean?"
"I don't want to tell him," You admitted honestly and then added, "But I have to."
"I don't think he'll be upset with me like you are." Cas smiled to himself and you rolled your eyes.
"That's because you're both idiots."
"Perhaps." He gave a small nod, looking to you, and you couldn't help the grin that appeared on your face.
"Thanks for the save," You rolled your eyes playfully and then added more seriously, "But if Michael comes to collect, let me handle it."
"Hopefully that day will never come."
