~I think I've seen this film before

and I didn't like the ending~

~Grace's version~

I wake up to my alarm again this morning, I reach over and grab my phone to turn my alarm off. When I turn it off, my home screen floods with notifications. I click on the first one, which happens to be Taylor.

Taylor

Hey babe, have you seen any news platforms yet?

No I haven't, what happened?

The pictures have been published by the big news platforms, and they have been making up stories. I didn't want you to find out through the internet.

Oh, is it bad?

Some are, but most storys are good for the situation.

Oh okay, I'm sorry, I gotta go get ready, bye.

With that I turn off my phone and start to get dressed. I grab some light blue high waisted jeans and pair them with a white cardigan. I quickly do some simple makeup and put my hair in a messy ponytail.

When it's 8, I go downstairs for breakfast. About halfway throughout the basically silent breakfast, Jack clears his throat. "Is it true that your last placement was with Taylor Swift?" the question feels very out of the blue and I don't know what to say, so I just nod. Since I don't really respond, Jack continues talking to Ava. "That's probably just some publicity stunt, not a single celebrity would voluntarily take in some foster kid." I freeze, I have never thought about it like that.

Ava notices my reaction "Did you really think she would care about you? You're just some foster kid, also why aren't you still with her then? If it wasn't for the publicity she would've kept you." "They had to do a house inspection, that's why they moved me." I whisper back, still trying to protect Taylor. "We have had so many house inspections, and the kid was always back like the day after being moved, it was probably just some excuse."

I feel my heart break, how naïve was I to believe that Taylor actually cared, of course she wouldn't hurt me, because how would it look to have pictures taken with a kid full of bruises. "I'm sorry, I'm not hungry, may I be excused?" "Sure." I quickly get up from the table and take my bowl over to the kitchen to dump out the rest of my breakfast, I quickly wash the bowl before putting it away and running upstairs.

I deliberately don't look at my phone, scared to see another message from Taylor. Instead I focus on my schoolwork for a couple of hours.

When I finish my schoolwork for chemistry I grab my chorelist to see what I have to do today. I have to do the laundry today, so I immediately put all the clothes into the washing machine. While I wait for the clothes to be ready so I can put them in the dryer, I have nothing to do.

I decide to grab my phone anyway and see a text from Betty, with my schedule. I have to work the full day tomorrow and monday, wednesday and friday in the afternoon, which is nice, because I can just be busy and not worry about anything else.

Just then, I hear someone stomping up the stairs and before I know it, the door is flung open to reveal Jack standing there. "What do you think you are doing?" he asks so calmly it's creepy. Before I can say anything he continues "First you don't do the dishes multiple times and disapear upstairs, and then you leave the laundry in the washing machine for ages." He slowly raises his voice the more he talks. In that moment, every bit of hope that this placement would be different vanishes.
