𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆, 𝐈 was stood with Elena by the door as we were about to leave for school, "Come on Jeremy, going to school! Walking out the door now!" I called out to him.
Jenna quickly ran to us and handed Elena a thermos, "Forgot this."
Elena smiled, "Thank you."
I opened the door to see John Gilbert on the other side of it, "Emelia, Elena." He grinned.
I glared in his direction whereas Elena smiled politely, "Uncle John! Hi."
He turned to my aunt, "Jenna."
"John, you made it." She smiled fakely.
"I said I'll be here before noon." The man said as he stepped into the house.
"Oh, what you say and what you do are typically two very different things." She replied.
"Uncle John, what's up?" Jeremy spoke up as he came down the stairs. He slapped the man on the shoulder before leaving.
"I had some business in town; I thought that a visit was in order." He continued.
"How long are you staying?" I asked.
He shrugged, "I don't know yet."
I hummed bitterly as Elena tried to get me out the door, "Okay, well, I'm gonna go to school, I'll see you later." She said before leaving.
𝐈 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 through the halls with my twin when Alaric called us into his classroom.
"I made a copy of a paper Jeremy wrote for me. I think you should take a look at it." He said as he handed it to my twin.
"Fact or Fiction: The Truth About Vampires in Mystic Falls." She read out.
I frowned, "Jeremy wrote this?"
"He's very clear that he didn't think it was real." The man spoke.
Elena sighed heavily, "I really hope you're right because I've done so much to protect him from all of this."
She handed him back the paper, "So, how do you deal with it?" He asked.
She frowned, "What do you mean?"
Alaric shrugged, "With all the lies and the secrets. You have to lie to everyone who's important to you."
"It's not safe for them to know the truth. So, yes I keep it from them, but it's only because I love them." She explained.
The man paused, "I think Stefan is a good guy. But at the end of the day, he's still a vampire."
"I know it's hard to understand but Stefan is different." She breathed out, "He would never do anything to hurt me."
