TRIGGER WARNING- assault.

***

Jaime slid down the wall of the shower, trembling as she tucked her knees into chest. "You did great." Shane groaned, pulling his pants back up as he buckled his belt. He motioned to his belt as he picked up his gun, rattling it at her. "Don't forget what I said. Nobody knows."

She nodded slowly, still in shock from the experience as he opened the door quietly, and left her alone, the shower still running. She reached up behind her, pulling the handle down as the flow of water stopped.
She sat on the floor, and cried, disgusted with herself as she tried to "wash" off everywhere Shane had touched her, irritating her skin as she rubbed it raw with a cloth.

She sobbed silently, trying to put her clothes back on desperately but struggling too much as her hands shook. She got them on after a few minutes of pained struggling, and wiped her face with a towel, and gathered her belongings, opening the shower door as she slowly walked back to the room she would be sleeping in while they were at the CDC.

She walked by Shane in the hallway, as he winked and smiled at her, and she struggled to hold back tears as she walked into her room, throwing her crap on her cot as she sobbed, trying to brush her hair to distract herself.

"Jaime? Are you okay?" Carl stood in her doorway.
She turned towards him, wiping tears off her face as she nodded. "I'm fine Carl!"

"Jaime, you're crying." He looked at her with a mix of worry and confusion, as she yelled at him, "Carl, get out! Get out!"

"Okay, I'm sorry!" He quickly shut her door, leaving her alone.

She sat on her bed quietly, rocking back and forth.
She stood back up and paced around her room a few times. She wouldn't even be able to tell Rick, they were best friends. He wouldn't believe her. Her mom? God no, no, she'd never believe it, even if she did it would be Jaime's fault.

She started crying again, pacing around her room more until finally she sat down on her cot, sobbing.
She cried until she gave herself a migraine, and finally fell asleep. She had convinced herself she was purely delusional, and that none of it had happened. Maybe she fell in the shower and hit her head hard enough to concuss herself. That seemed reasonable.
Yeah, she hit her head for sure.

The next morning when she woke up, she joined the others in the dining hall for breakfast, hardly touching her plate even after everyone was done. She sat in silence, painfully aware of Shane's stares.

"I'm gonna go back to bed." Jaime mumbled, standing up slowly. "Are you alright?" Carol asked, a look of worry painting her face.
"I'm alright, I-I just don't feel well today."
"Do you need anything? Tea, water? Medicine?"
"No, no, I'm okay-"

"Jaime before you wander off, I have something to show you all." Jenners spoke, coming around the corner.

"Sure." She mumbled.

They followed him down to the main security room, the panels and large white screen lighting up.
She sat down on a desk, picking at her lips.

"Vi, give me playback of TS-19."

"Playback of TS-19."
"Few people, ever got a chance to see this. Very few."

The main screen flashed to a showing of a Human MRI, its lights and cells active as all hell.

"Is that a brain?" Carl asked, admiring the beauty of it.

"An extraordinary one. Not that it matters in the end. Take us in for E.I.V."

"Enhanced internal view."

The brains neurons and cells quickly darted around, chugging away as a timer on the bottom of the screen ticked forward. "What are those lights?"

"It's a persons life- experience memories. It's everything. Somewhere in all that organic wiring, those ripples of light, is you. The thing that makes you unique."

"You don't make sense, ever."

"Those are synapses. Electric impulses in the brain that carry all the messages in the brain. They control everything a person says, does or thinks from the moment of birth. To the moment of death."

"Death? That's what this is, a vigil?" Rick walked towards Jenner, watching the screen.

"Yes. Or rather the playback of the vigil."

"This person died? Who?"

"Test subject 19. Someone who was bitten and infected and volunteered to have us record the process. Vi, scan forward to the first event."

"Scanning to first event."

"What is that?" Glenn whispered. The brain quickly began fading away and its lights and cells died off as quickly as they moved.

"It invades the brain like meningitis. The adrenal glands hemorrhage, the brain goes into shut down, then the major organs. Then death. Everything you ever were or will be, gone."

"Is that what happened to Amy?" Sophia mumbled.
"Yes." Carol whispered.

"I'm gonna be sick." Jaime coughed, standing up as she ran back down the hallway.

She barely made it to the bathroom before she began vomiting, not having enough time to hold her hair back before she soiled it, along with her shirt. She groaned, choking on tears as she vomited again.

She inhaled roughly, coughing long and hard as she caught her breath. She sat in front of the toilet for awhile, sobbing. She was now suddenly and painfully aware of all the pain in her thighs and her pelvis, sore and bruised up.

"Jaime?"

Jaime cleared her throat, "I'lll be right out."

"Jaime, it's Dale. We need to leave, now!"

Jaime unlocked the door, pushing it open as Dale took a quick look at her. "Jesus, you look awful." He whispered, running his hand over her forehead. "I'm fine, really." "We need to leave. Jenners didn't tell us something, if we don't leave now we're all dead."

Jaime stood up slowly, "Where's my mother?"

Dale paused, "She's refusing to leave."

"Are you kidding me?" Jaime started running down the hallway, back towards the room Jenners had brought them to. "Mom! Mom, we need to go!"

"I'm fine right here!" Topanga smiled anxiously. "Jaime, not to frighten you, but the buildings going to blow in thirty minutes." "What?" "We need to get you out, Topanga."

"Mom, please."
"Jaime you saw that screen. I can't go out like that." "You aren't going to fucking die! Just come on!"
"I never should have let you bring me here." Topanga muttered, tears streaming down her face. "Mom you can scream and beat the shit out of me later, let's go!"

"Mom, now!"

"I'll die right here."

Jaime cussed under her breath, grabbing Topanga's arms as she yelled, "Get up! Now! Walk out those god damn doors or so help me god I will drag you out of this building!"

An echoing of gunshots echoed as Topanga realized the severity of the situation, and started running towards the main entrance.
