"Is that a new rookie?" Lucy Chen question her two friends as they walk through the Mid Wilshire department together.

"That could be possibly considering officer Wellington is a T.O. without a rookie." John Nolan imputed his thoughts.

"Yeah the only time he's actually doing his training duties is when one of our T.Os are busy." Jackson West nodded his head agreeing with his friends.

"How does she look so good in uniform." Lucy thought aloud causing her two friends to laugh as they made their way over to the new rookie.

"Hey!" Jackson greeted with a big friendly smile.

Emily Brooks smiled back at the friendly officer and nodded her head at the two others next to him.

"I'm Jackson West, that is Lucy Chen, and this is John Nolan." Jackson introduced everyone to the new girl.

"We're your fellow rookies. Already half way through the program." John explained, so the girl felt more comfortable knowing they were also rookies.

"Nice to meet you guys. I'm Emily Brooks." Emily held out her hand to shake each of their hands which surprised them slightly.

"We better get to roll call." Jackson announced.

"We will show you the way." John spoke up causing Emily to follow behind the trio.

All the Rookies sat in the front row. West, Chen, and Nolan sat together at one table and to the right was Brooks; sitting alone.

They got there before their training officers and most of the other officers came into the room.

"Alright." Sergeant Grey walked into the room causing the room to become silent.

"I know we have three Rookies, but there's one training officer that isn't getting any love." Sergeant Grey begin.

"So Officer Wellington let's meet your rookie." Sergeant Grey looked at Emily and just got the hint, so she stood up causing all the attention to go to her.

"I'm officer Emily Brooks. Badge number 4430."

Bradford wasn't paying attention because he couldn't care less about another rookie, but the name and voice stood out to him.

His attention went to the new rookie who had sat back down and was paying attention to Sergeant Grey.

His eyes focused on the rookie, he couldn't even hear what Sergeant Grey was saying. He hadn't seen or heard of Emily Brooks since she was medically discharged after an accident that could have been prevented.

He felt like it was his fault. It was like god wanted to punish him for his past mistakes, so here Emily Brooks was. . Sitting only five feet away from him and she had no idea.

After roll call, the rest of the rookie and training officers seemed to leave before Emily Brooks even got up from her seat.

"Welcome to the beginning of your career boot."

Brooks looked at a very handsome young man who she was guessing was her training officer.

"Thank you, sir." Brooks nodded, but didn't smile.

"Don't be afraid to show a little teeth. I know I'm your training officers, but I've already been informed of your past experience. You've earned my respect and deserve a little leg room." Brooks training officer spoke which slightly surprised her.

"I appreciate it, but I've learned I don't earn respect until I earn it. That's what I'm going to do until I become a p2." Brooks informed her training officer who raised his brow in response.

"I respect it boot. Just don't be afraid to show a little personality. Officers aren't robots who just follow orders."

"Yes sir." Brooks smiled awkwardly.

"Good. Now go signed out our equipment and meet me in the garage, so we can start your very first shift." Wellington clasped his hands together and left Brooks alone.

Brooks let out a small breathless laugh. This is going to be quite different from what she's used to.
