Every Angel is Terrifying

//Mid December//

When you know you're being a hypocrite, everything you say is a lie. Whether people think it's real or not, you begin to lose yourself in all those lies and truths. You yourself, don't believe a word you say either.

Every time she comes across a billboard announcing Best Jeanist's disappearance, her stomach turns and the anxiety almost makes her throw up. The world is turning into a darker place than it already is; the heroes are losing control and fast.

"Phoenix," he calls, "bring the bag."

She remains in place, her bloody hands shaking. Except there was no actual blood on them. But she still could see it; all over her hands, arms, legs. Covering every inch of her vision.

"Phoenix!"

The hero blinks several times and looks around her; coming back to reality and finding several eyes trained on her. With her guilty mind, it seemed like those stares knew what she had done and were trying to get her to confess. They didn't know though, or she wouldn't be there.

"Let's postpone the meeting for today, shall we?" Midnight says, closing her folder.

The rest of the heroes agree and leave their seats, conversing between themselves.

"What's going on?" Shouta asks once everyone clears the table.

"That mission..." she rubs her tired eyelids and sighs. "It's taking all of my energy and focus."

"Sounds pretty serious. I know you can handle it, you've gone through worse," he closes his folder as well and turns his body to face her.

The distressed look on her face is something he has never seen on her before. Despite going on awful missions, she has always kept a strong and cocky demeanor. But right now, she's deeply conflicted and it's obvious to anyone.

"I'm not sure Shouta," Phoenix sighs. "I feel... lost within myself. I don't know what I stand for now."

"Just remember why you started in this for."

"I do. But I'm not sure there's a difference in me between hero and villain now."

Aizawa is taken back slightly with her words but doesn't show it; that's not what she needs right now. What has she done that has her so conflicted with herself?

"What you're doing, you're doing because it'll lead to the correct way. Even if the whole world turns against you, I'll still be by your side, supporting your every action. Because I have faith in that noble heart of yours."

Phoenix looks at her him for a moment and then goes in for a hug; surprising them both. Aizawa holds her while she stifles back her cries, giving her her time. He knows she can't say anything, but he greatly wishes she'd talk to him about what's going on so he could help.

"Thank you, Shouta."

Hawks dropped the bag in front of Dabi; it's content's heavily pounding on the floor. Phoenix winced and looked away, as discrete as possible.

"Wasn't easy, but we managed," Hawks said, sounding so relaxed and casual.

Dabi began unzipping the bag, "did ya both? Or was this only on one account?"

"Both. By the way, what happened in Deika? That was your guy's acts, right?" Hawks changed the subject. It's true; Phoenix had heard about that incident.
