True Colors

//Later that evening- Mid September//

Grunts and shouts can be heard from outside her house before even opening the door. Phoenix frowns and steps inside with caution. From her place, everything looked normal. But there was no one in sight.

"Ash?" she calls, turning off the security system beside the door.

"Mommy! Come look!" his little voice echoes back throughout the house, inviting her to come find him. Phoenix walks down the entrance hall and into the living room, where the small boy successfully lands a hit with the couch's cushion to the winged man, messing with his blonde locks at the impact. Ash then jumps the hero and traps him in a headlock, leaving him with no escape.

"Oh, hey mommy," Hawks grins at Phoenix, looking at her from under Ash's arms. A large, contagious smile frames his angelic face perfectly, showing how much he truly was enjoying their time together. Or was it just an act? He is a commission boy after all. She sighs, unsure of what to really make out of him for the moment being.

"Hey kiddos," she laughs and takes a seat on the couch beside the pair, unzipping her boots as she does so, "enjoying your small playdate?"

"Hawks has a lot of feathers," Ash comments.

She notices his yellow glasses, gloves and headphones are lying on the coffee table in front of them; probably to not get in their way of their small brawl.

"You never told me you were friends with Hawks! That's so cool!," Ash lets go of the hero, who takes this as an advantage and lifts him up in the air with a single feather, his feet dangling and fighting. "Eh?!"

Ash is usually a bully with any new male friends of hers, how did Hawks manage to get him on his side that quickly? Might be the fact that he's a hero, that surely was it. Or that he can fly; either two is believable enough.

"Stop it, you're making me blush," Hawks pretends to be shy, hiding his face inside the neck of his jacket and doing some weird pose.

She looks at both kids and shakes her head, dropping her suitcase with her hero suit on the floor, "tell me you don't work as a babysitter, for the sake of those poor children."

"On my free time," Hawks grins sheepishly and makes Ash fly in circles; who is still trying to fight the feather off.

"Drop him," she orders and Hawks obeys, smiling to himself. 'Her bossy self is hot.'

Once Ash is back on the floor, Phoenix crouches down to his level, "you and I are having a talk later on, got me little man? Now go to your room while we talk business."

"Sure, business...~" Just as he starts to tease, Hawks quickly pulls a feather inside the back of his hero shirt and makes him fly into his room before he speaks any further. 'That kid is too smart for his age. He's gonna be a threat.'

Phoenix actually has to stop herself from laughing, 'that was cute. But what did Ash mean with that?'

"How did it go?" Hawks asks, taking a seat on the white couch with his arms outstretched and his left heel over his right knee. Upon noticing she's still standing, he pats the space beside him, inviting her. She sighs and sits down next to him, a leg up on the couch and her body facing his. She loves how comfortable her couch is after work days. Sure, she might have a quirk which helps her occasionally, but most of her job consists in fights body to body. While catching burglars or criminals, her quirk isn't really helpful in that aspect.

"Well, he gave me a warm and happy go lucky entrance to the club," she rubs her eyelids and hugs her leg to her chest; feeling too emotionally drained already. "He didn't kill me at least so not so bad."
