You have been working in this company for months, a lot of people have no idea how you passed the interview, you weren't exactly the smartest of the bunch. Your morning was going awful, you had spilled your coffee on your suit, you didn't wake up on time and on your way inside the building someone had mentioned something about you possibly getting fired. At least you didn't have it like that new guy, everyone was pushing him around...you think you just saw someone accidentally headbutt him, Jesus. You went to your office and saw a note. 

 Good morning! I heard the rumors about you getting fired, do not worry! You are one of my best and I'll get whoever started the rumor.

               - Normal Guy 

You were usually favored by him, you didn't exactly know why. Around other employees he treated you terribly but when you two were alone it was like you were the only thing that mattered to him. You read the note and tossed it in the trash. The air conditioner in your office was acting up again. You sit in you spinny chair and call the maintenance guy. 

"Hello! This is Manuel speaking, the building maintenance and safety head. What can I help you with?" It was about time he answered. "Hey, it's (reader). My air conditioner is acting up again and it may or may not explode. Help." "Oh well, I'll be there in a bit!" Manuel sure took his time getting there. He didn't usually take this long, maybe he got stuck in the elevator- the door instantly opens wide."Hello! I'm just gonna check what's going on and see what I can do." "Ok. Thank you." As he got to work you remembered something. Normal Guy was pretty close to Manuel, maybe you should ask how he's doing. "How's Norman doing?" He stayed silent for a few seconds. "Uh, like usual! Why?" "Just curious."

 Manuel looked like he was processing something. Manuel knew about Normal Guy being close to you, he some times overheard conversations where Normal Guy was praising you or treating you like some kind of lover. "I...I think you should know this. I heard he said something to the other higher-ups about you not deserving your position and some other stuff.." This wasn't new to you but it still hurt. It really hurt. "How did this conversation come up?" Manuel was looking through air conditioners filter as he spoke. "I was fixing one of the vending machines when one of the higher ups said he saw you two getting quote unquote 'touchy' with each other and he kinda started talking bad about you. Sorry about that, I know you guys are pretty close...uhm, so I may need to check your air conditioner later today but it should be good for now!" You were still processing everything, was he really that ashamed of you? You thought he only ignored you around others or acted like he didn't know you. "Thanks Manuel, see you later then." He waved good bye and left.

Now you were all alone with your thoughts. You started doing some paperwork and then you saw 2 more notes between the large pile of papers, they were from last week. You must've missed them.

Hello, dear. I've been meaning to tell you about something. I wanna apologize about my behavior with you in public but I highly doubt it will change. Meet me tomorrow at 3 pm in my office.

- Normal Guy

I expected to see you yesterday. I do deeply care about you even if I don't act like it around others. I didn't know it'd have such an impact on you. I love you, I really do. Please meet me in my office today.

-Normal Guy 

Oh. OH SHIT! That's why he ignored you that week and the next following days... could that be why he was being shitty? You heard a knock on your door. "Manuel?" "...it's me, Norman." You panicked and threw away the notes. He opens the door and see's the notes and the mess on your desk. "So that's what you've been doing with the notes I gave you... I'll just call you next time." He kept his smile it was falling a bit but still there. "I'm sorry? I wasn't sure what to with them." Normal Guys heart hurt. What about the one with his confession? Did that mean nothing to you? "(Reader), do you not like me anymore?" You still obviously liked him! Adored him even from all the praise, gifts, company and promotions he had given you but...it didn't fix how he acted around you with others. Though, romantically you didn't really know. 

You sometimes romanticized him in your daydreams about holding hands in public and being able to not have to hide anything but that was just a fantasy considering he wouldn't even make your 'friendship' public. "Norman, I think I should be the one asking you that. I get that were just frie-" "I like you more than a friend though, I want to engage in a romantic relationship with yo-" You cut him off. "Let me finish! I get that currently we are only in a platonic relationship but, I don't like the way you treat me around others. It honestly hurts! And it's gonna hurt even more when we start dating because I'll be like a temporary boyfriend that's only there when you want him! I hate that you act like I'm the best yet so ashamed of me!" He stayed silent at that.

 His smile finally fell, he looked emotionless at that point. He was getting frustrated with you and dragged you out of your office and into a busy area of the building where a bunch of people were. He pulled you close to you and murmured a few inches away from your lips. "Do you want to see how ashamed I am of being with you?" He knocked over a fake plant to catch everyone's attention and proceeded to kiss you deeply with his hand tangled in your hair and the other on your hip. Everyone gasped and whispered, some looked in confusion and others were cheering. At some point when the two of you broke the kiss, someone threw a pride flag at your feet. You looked at Normal Guy as of asking for permission to carry him. He lets himself get picked up by you and be carried bridal style. "I love you, (reader)" "Thank you for this. I love you more than you can imagine."
