Esther awoke with a gasp.
Achernar Crosswell had paid a visit to her in the dream she had. She tried not to think about it, but she was afraid. That demon said he wanted her to be by his side. Soon, he would find her and Orion again. It was only a matter of time before that happened.
Esther looked at the fallen star sleeping soundly in front of her on the couch across from hers. She smiled despite the dream she had, which wasn't a dream, it was very real. With a yawn, she got up as quietly as she could and stretched. Orion looked peaceful as he was still sleeping. Looks like he really needed the rest. Esther was glad she could give him that. Despite the peacefulness of how his delicate features relaxed, he still looked slightly troubled. He'd been through a lot, she couldn't imagine what the fallen archangel had faced. She wanted to run her hands through his raven feathery hair which looked soft like silk. Esther slapped herself. As much as she wanted to stare at the literal art piece in front of her, she needed to get herself together. Keep calm, cool thyself! And carry on. Slap yourself if need be.
Deciding to go to the kitchen, to make some breakfast, Esther took out a pan and a box of pancake mix. Even angels ate, right? Everyone had to eat at least something. Doesn't everybody love pancakes? Her cooking skills weren't too bad. Esther's pancakes weren't perfect looking, but they tasted pretty good. I think. Hopefully. She finished flipping them over and turned off the stove, sliding them onto two plates. One for herself and the other for Orion. An equal stack of pancakes for the two stars.
Esther brought them out to a nearby table. She went to her fridge and took out some fresh fruit to top them off on the pancakes, while setting some maple syrup beside. After she was done, Esther snuck a glance over at Orion who was still asleep. She pat herself on the back for managing not to be her usual clumsy self by making a lot of noise which would have woken him up. Esther sat down at the table and stuffed down her pancakes. Delicious me thinks. She drowned them in maple syrup and did her best to eat as quietly as she possibly could, almost choked on a damn strawberry.
The dining room was near the open living room. It was around 8 in the morning. The sun was shining through the windows. It was silent, so Esther didn't want to accidentally make too much of a ruckus. The sound of birds chirping happily filled the air outside. Esther finished her pancakes and brought her empty plate to the sink to wash them. She came back to the living room and heard a soft groan.
Orion sat up from the couch he slept on, blinking his eyes blearily. He looked fully rested, but tired from worry of the troubles they faced. Esther smiled and went over to him. He looked back at her, seeming confused for a moment before remembering who the girl in front of him was. "Good morning sleepy head. Did you sleep well?"
