(A/N) - I'm going to start writing in first person POV, so instead of "you walk through" it'll be "i walk through" Okay! Back to the story.
Y/n POV
"Beware the magical beasts. Turn back now!" That was the third sign we passed that said that.
"We've been walking for so long, wheeen wiiiilll weeee geeet theeere," Leorio dragged out.
"Oh shut up Leorio. We've only been walking for two hours." I tell him, annoyed.
"But we also haven't eaten in foreveeeeerrr..." he complains.
"I'm going to let you taste your own blood if you keep on complaining." I threaten, and he finally shuts up.
After walking for a bit longer, we finally reached the cedar tree. Just as promised, a house is located next to it. We all walk up to the door, and Kurapika knocks, "Is anyone there?"
It was silent. So instead of knocking again, like civilized human beings, I decide to barge in. I stand in shock, looking at the scene before our eyes. The house was trashed, and had blood splattered around. There was a wounded man on the floor and a woman was held captive by a magical beast. I guess the sign was telling the truth. Kurapika slipped in front of me protectively, but I paid no attention to it.
"The man is hurt, Leorio, stay here and help him!" Kurapika commands him. Then, the magical beast that was holding the woman, ran away.
We didn't hesitate at all to chase after it. Thanks to my training, I was easily able to keep track of the magical beast. I knew Gon and Kurapika were tailing me, so I look back and give them a glance, they understand and speed ahead of me. Gon was able to get a hit on the beast, and Kurapika was able to catch the lady.
Suddenly, I detect another presence in the area, and luckily I catch a glimpse of another beast, Gon chasing after the other, while I chase after the original. I assumed that Gon thought the one he was chasing was the original. Once I caught up to the beast, I was able to pin it on the floor. I was about to pull out one of my daggers from under my skirt, but it started talking.
"Why did you switch?" I look at it with a death glare.
"Alright, alright! You got me. How could you tell we switched?" It asked.
"Why should I tell you?" I ask, still cautious.
"Tell me, and I'll tell you later."
"Ok," I get off of it, but still have my guard up, "I noticed a new presence, one I was not familiar with, and by chance I noticed your buddy. I'm pretty sure Gon has figured out that he wasn't chasing you by now."
"That's good," they say, nodding their head, "Anyways, we are a family of Kiriko, a type of magical beast. I am the father, your friend was chasing my wife. I believe your tall friend back at the house is treating my son, and your blonde friend was helping my daughter. This was all simply a test. I will explain more back at the house."
- Back at the house -
"Honey! Guess what? This boy over here was able to tell the two of us apart." one of them chuckled.
"Really? How refreshing. This girl over here knew that there were two of us when you showed up." The father said.
"You guys could tell them apart?" Leorio said, while trying to see the difference himself.
"Well, I didn't tell them apart, Gon did." I admit.
"It's really simple! The one on the left has a higher pitched voice, and the one on the right has a deeper voice. Do you not see it?" Gon states.
