===========================================================================

So, after my mother shot that man, she explained that he was no longer alive but a walking dead, or a zombie. Then I asked about the club, but Dad mentioned he hadn't had any contact with anyone at the club's HQ and how I wouldn't be able to get a promotion to go on missions, which initially made me sad. However, that was a week ago, and now that I reflect on it, there's no world left, just a zombie apocalypse.  As we walked up a hill, the distant sound of a car alarm echoed off the mountains which reached our ears, so we stopped to listen for bit.

"It's moving this way let's go" Dad whispered as he looked at both of us earning a head nod from mom and a thumbs up from me

We ran at full speed to keep up with the car alarm that was going off.  We halted, and then we heard another car, but this time we could see the car and it was a truck going up the road, so we followed the truck from a distant and watched it make a right turn into an area. My father pulled out his gun and my mother pulled her two Glocks outs, and I reached behind my back and grabbed my katana as we gradually approached the second vehicle, which turned out to be a U-Haul moving truck. we heard what sounded like a kid screaming for his dad. My mother ran and jumped onto the back of the truck, climbing on top of it as my dad and I approached slowly and quietly.

"Hello!" my dad exclaimed loudly ensuring that everyone could hear him. The group turned around quickly some had drawn their guns, while others froze, unwilling to move a muscle.

"We mean nobody harm we just heard someone scream and thought they needed help" My dad stated as he walked into the open more with me right behind him.

"Why do you have your gun drawn, and why is your son brandishing his sword?" asked the man, aiming a shotgun at my father's head narrowing his eyes.

"He has a point Jay" my mother remarked with a smile, though her eyes conveyed a different sentiment, causing nearly everyone to glance up at her.

While everyone's attention was on my mom, I took a quick look around the group and noticed four kids, one old man and about 15 adults. My dad puts his gun away and puts his hands up, but me and mom didn't follow him until the man with the shotgun lowered his. After a couple of minutes, he lowered it then My mother jumps down off the top of the truck and walked over to me and dad.

"Can I speak to the person in charge?" asked my father while looking between shotgun man and cop.

"Let's have a private conversation, but first, let me introduce myself. My name is Shane, and this is my partner, Rick" He said pointing towards the cop.

My mom suggested I rest upon seeing a log; I wanted to insist I was fine, but my weary legs and feet begged to differ. As I made my way to the log, my parents accompanied Rick and Shane. Before sitting down, I unsheathed my katana and noticed it needed sharpening. So, I grabbed the scabbard, pressed a button, and a sharpening stone slid out. I took the stone and began sharpening my katana.

"I know that your there" I stated without turning around.

"Umm, hi" a soft voice responded.

I turned around to face the voice to see a boy with ginger-like hair with bright blue eyes and a blush on his face

"My name is Carl Grimes," The boy said playing with his fingers.

"Mine is Alex," I replied with a smile.

"Anderson...I know who you are we went to the same school" he blurted out while looking down then back up at me

I looked at him then it came back to me. He was in my homeroom and my music class, but he rarely spoke well neither did I, for that matter. I was too busy studying for the entrance exam for the club and training.

"Carl Grimes, homeroom with Mrs. Shudders and had music class with Mr. Maroks, just like me" I said with a smile on my face.

"Wait you know who I am?" he asked as he sat next to me.

"Yeah, who doesn't know the cop's son....wait your the son of that cop" I said as the realization dawned on me.

He began to laugh, which almost made me join in, but I didn't because my attention was captured by a large man yelling at, what I assume to be, his wife. Before I could ask Carl who that man was, my parents used our secret whistle to get my attention. Carl stopped laughing when he saw me looking in my parent's direction.

"What do you think they talked about?" I asked Carl not looking away from my parents

"I don't know... maybe about whether you and your family can stay here?" Carl said, with a hint of hope in his eyes.

I gave him a peculiar look he was unaware that my parents and I were not staying because we belonged to a secret club. However, I couldn't explain this to Carl since my parents were expecting me, and I didn't want to keep them waiting any longer.

"It was nice meeting you and actually talking to you, rather than just looking your way in school when you're not looking," I said, before stopping and realizing what I had just admitted.

Before Carl could say anything, I ran off. Why did I say that?  I thought to myself. He probably thinks I'm a freak now. Great job Alex, I mentally chastised myself before I reached my parents.

"Hey " I said as I hugged them

"Hey, did you have fun?" my mom asked while hugging me

I didn't respond only thing that happened was a smile that crept up.

"Well, after talking to them, we've decided that we're going to stay with the group for a little while, buddy," said my dad.

I simply nodded, then glanced at the log to find Carl wasn't there instead he was with his mom and dad. When he turned and smiled at me, I couldn't help but smile back. After all, what's the worst that could happen?

After we introduced ourselves, my dad joined Mr. Rick, Mr. Shane, and Mr. Dale, while my mother wandered off toward Miss Amy and Miss Andrea, seeking to help with anything. As for me, I walked into the woods after ensuring no one was behind me I went for a run. During that run, I mentally sorted everyone into 2 categories, Friend or Foe.

I placed I categorized the sisters as friends, along with Carl and his parents, Dale, Glenn, Jim, Morales and his family, T-Dog, Jacqui, Carol, and Sophia. For the foe category there was only two Shane and Ed I spoke those words with venom; I mean, what kind of man lays hands on his family, whom he's supposed to love unconditionally, just as my dad loves me and mom. I headed back to camp after realizing I've been gone for a while.

Approaching the campsite, I spotted deer tracks and smiled, knowing everyone, especially Carl, would be thrilled if I returned with a deer. While tracking the prints, I realized they were marked with blood. So engrossed was I in the pursuit that I failed to notice three zombies tailing me until a snap and growling broke the silence. I spun around swiftly and flicked both wrists, pulling two throwing knives from my hip band. One knife found its mark in the head of the nearest zombie, while the other struck the farthest. Approaching the first, I retrieved my knife, then turned to the last zombie and delivered a final stab. After retrieving my final throwing knife, I resolved to come back the following day to track the deer. Making my way back to camp, I begin to sing "Zombie" by The Cranberries, an ironic choice given the zombie apocalypse around me.
