CHAPTER ONE
2 APRIL 1985
Laying the little boy on his bed the young lady exits the bedroom with a heavy breath, she grabs the litter papers around and trashes them with a sigh as she glances at the wall clock, she sits on the rocking chair and releases an exhausting breath before staring at the portrait on the wall, A young man sitting next to her with the two children in their front, all with a smile on their faces, she looks away and stares at the wall clock, the only sound around its the one coming from. it ticks, and just as it ticks so is her happiness, there was a time when the house used to be filled with laughter and happiness, all that is now in the past, the present is an ocean of anguish while the future seems hopeless, the door open and she turn her attention to the direction,
An average-height man walks in wearing a flared trouser with a T-shirt his Afro hair combed and trimmed to perfection, he is a good-looking gentleman, and his big sleepy eyes were what caught her attention when they first met, he walked past her to the bedroom and she stood up with a heavy sigh and trails behind him.
"Kabir," she called staring at him as he shrugged off his shirt and hung it on the Nail that was on the wall.
"What have I done to you?
If I did something wrong isn't it better if you tell me,
Ever since..........
"Sakinah,
Please shut up,
I want to sleep."he shut her and she stays quiet staring at him with an aching heart, when she first met Kabir 7years ago she was only 16, it was a love at first sight for her, she was only a teenager who has zero experience about life while he was a 25years old single Adult who was living by himself then, he was working with an Oil and Gas company, he was successfull at a young age he loves her, she was the last born of a family of 6 and when she brought Kabir home her family shunned the idea of she been with Kabir, despite proven to have all it takes to take care of her they kicked against it because of the cultural differences and Tradition, Born and Raise in the South sakina despite been a Muslim knows very little about religion, her mum was a Muslim and her dad was a Christian they grew up with a baseless religion because their parents kept arguing about what Religion they should practice which left them confused after her mum died her father pay less attention to them he let them practice whatever they want.
4 of her siblings practice Christianity Sakina and her eldest brother are the only two practicing Islam but that didn't make them develop hate for their differences, they love, care, and look out for each other, she was loved by her elder siblings until Kabir came into her life,
When her family disapproves of the relationship, she rebels against them and leaves with him.
"If you choose him over us you shall never be welcome here." was her dad's last words to her,
Despite that Kabir and she got married, 2years into their marriage they gave birth to a Boy whom they named Ali they were happy she went with Ali and her husband to her father, with the hope he would change his mind after he saw his grandson but he kicked them out, now 4 years later they have their second child, a beautiful daughter who was named Aisha,
Kabir still works at the Oil and Gas company, he has gone from a junior staff now to a manager, they are living the perfect life she always pictured but things began to fall apart after Kabir got back from the north where he went to visit his family.
She knows for sure Kabir family does not like her they went to the north after they got married and it was a horrible experience his family showed disapproval just like her family, they called her an outcast also let her know she could never be accepted since then Kabir only go to visit alone.
