(Fauziya's Struggles)
CHAPTER TWENTY
When Linda got discharged from the hospital Fauziya wasn't surprised by the verdict Ali's mum ruled out, its barely a week to end of the month so the woman let Fauziya know that her service wont be needed any longer once the month elapsed,
Sure she wasn't expecting that its just two months since she start working she pleaded with the woman yet her verdict stand.
"Have you pack your things?"Ali's mum ask and Fauziya nod.
"Here,
Lantana said to give you this 10k."she says handing the money to Fauziya who collects it muttering thank you as she wipe her tears with the back of her hand.
"Tomorrow morning you should leave since its already late now."Ali's mum say and fauziya nod, the parlor door open, earning a glance from them and fauziya saw its Ali, she hasn't seen him since the day he saw her with idris, he usually come around but he avoid her which really hurt her it's funny how Ali's action hurt her a lot, she was straight forward with idris since now Ali is in the picture she let him know she doesn't want to move on at the moment and he should give her some space which he agreed to do so,
I didn't coll t anything from him because I feel guilty for lying to him about me.
Fauziya watch as Ali exchange pleasantries with his mum before he sit on his usual spot on the one sitter sofa.
"You can go."Ali's mum says to Fauziya who's standing by the couch.
"I need a glass of water."he says glancing at Fauziya their eyes met and he do realise she cried because her sclera were pink as usual.
"How is your wife?"Fauziya heard his mum ask as she head for the kitchen.
"She is fine,
She is busy with her clearance,
How is Linda?"he ask releasing a heavy breath relaxing on the sofa and his mum nod.
Ali knows it doesn't matter what he would do his mum can only be angry with him for a while,
Probably because she feels guilty by what happened to him in the past, he hate when he gets angry and act of character but he was so upset that day and he hoped that would be a lesson to Linda not to treat Fauziya or any maid the way she always does
There is a long pause before Fauziya comes back to the parlor with the water she hand it to him and he barely look at her, he is still angry with Fauziya, she seeing idris despite knowing that would upset him just makes him angry.
Fauziya's POV
Shutting the backyard kitchen door I quietly walk back to the BQ the thought of going back to the north makes me exhausted already I barely have 15k with me, aside the 10k given to me by Ali's mum I have with me only 800 naira from my previous salary which was 5k that they gave to me, the transportation alone back home is hell, I enter the parlor not surprised to see Amal sleeping, I pick her up from the cold tiles and take her back to the bedroom,
I wished I can continue living in this place at least I get to feed myself and my daughter without any stress, I grab the suitcase and exit the bedroom with it, I would probably finish packing since I know tomorrow by this time I would be somewhere else.
I drop the suitcase on the porch and grab the small chair by the BQ with the Rag, the soft footsteps from the alley makes me pause and wait for who it is I know who those steps belongs to already but I'm just curious, I look down and start dusting the suitcase after Ali comes to view.
