Nate excitedly quickened her steps while gasping for air when she saw the building she was looking for. It took her thirty minutes this time to go there. Arriving in front of the building, Nate just looked at it from across the street. Now what? She had no intention of approaching the place and going in.
"Hej!"
Nate turned around in surprise. A portly man appeared suddenly, smiling broadly at her. He wore a chef's hat that covered his grey hair. Nate didn't realise there was a restaurant behind her, right across from Julian's office.
"I'm Philip, do you need any help?" asked the man.
Nate scratched the back of her neck. "Uh..."
Nate finally followed Philip into his restaurant. She swallowed nervously when she saw the menu in Swedish.
"A tourist?" asked Philip who was doing something with the coffee machine behind the counter.
Nate grinned. "I'm a newcomer."
"Is there any food or drink you want to order?" Philip asked again as he approached Nate.
"Um... Can you just help me choose something for lunch?"
"Of course. Please, have a sit, I'll deliver your food in a minute."
Nate went to one of the tables at the end of the room and sat in a chair facing the window. This position was fitting her much because she could see directly towards the building across the street. Nate didn't take her eyes off Julian's office so she didn't realise Philip came with her food.
"You look familiar. Have you been to Norrmalm before?" asked Philip.
Nate shook her head. "No. To be precise, this is my first time in Stockholm."
"Are you alone? Is there a place you want to visit?"
"I actually volunteer at one of the animal shelters near here."
"Oh, right. I think I remember there's one ten minutes from here."
Nate raised her eyebrows. Ten minutes?
"Enjoy your meal, then. Let me know if you need anything."
"Thank you."
Apparently the food that Philip chose was Köttbullar—a Swedish meatball dish made from beef. He served it with mashed potatoes and special sauce.
Nate enjoyed her lunch while continuing to watch the building in front of her. She saw several people coming in and out of the place, some even came to this restaurant, too. But Julian was nowhere to be seen. Didn't he go out for lunch?
Nate glanced at her watch. Her break was coming to an end. She couldn't wait here too long for Julian to appear.
"How's the food?" Philip asked when Nate was about to pay.
"It's delicious," replied Nate. "Oh right, what time does this place close?"
"I'll close at six and open at eight in the morning every day," replied Philip. That meant Nate wouldn't be able to visit this place after work.
"Thank you for the food. I'll definitely come again and try other menus," said Nate.
Philip waved at Nate who was leaving the restaurant. When he went to the table Nate was sitting at to pick up the dirty dishes, he saw a serviette with writing on it among other crumpled tissues.
