Nate was handing out food to every animal in the shelter. She was on cloud nine to recalled she was doing this with Julian yesterday. But she felt lonely at the same time. She missed him already, even though they had spent the whole day together.

Frida told her that yesterday Julian asked her if he could adopt one of the cookie babies. However, because they were still nursing, she couldn't let go of them yet. Frida offered other animals to adopt, but Julian only wanted one of the babies. He finally donated a large amount of money, although Frida didn't mention the exact amount. He also asked her not to tell Nate, but Frida still had to tell her that one of the babies would be adopted by him later.

"Julian is good at taking care of children. He has been taking care of me since I was little, so I'm sure you guys will be fine." Nate said to the babies.

Nate took out her phone. There was no reply from Julian since she texted him good morning. He seemed had his hand full so he didn't have time to look at his phone.

"Did you have fun with him yesterday?" asked Marco.

Nate glanced at Marco. He seemed to be talking about Julian. She just nodded in response. She had reluctantly gone to lunch with Marco after he complained about her. He thought she had changed.

"What did you do to him that he came back to you all of a sudden?" Marco asked suspiciously.

"Nothing. Just being me." Nate replied. She couldn't say that Julian didn't completely get back to her, or how he implied his jealousy of Marco.

Nate checked her phone all day, but there were no missed messages or calls from Julian. Even a few days later. Nate started to feel anxious. Could it be that he didn't like it when she kissed him out of the blue? Nate felt so bad that she was too scared to text Julian to ask how he was doing. She also didn't see him at all while she was hanging out at Philip's restaurant. Where was he?

Nate laid in bed, staring at the ceiling. It was 1 am already, but she was still wide awake. She wondered who she should ask about Julian's whereabouts tomorrow? Rick or Sophie? However, neither of them knew that Nate had been in touch with Julian again—unless he had told one of them.

The phone beside her vibrated. Nate sat up when she saw Julian's name on the screen. She felt both happy and anxious. Why was he calling her—especially at this hour?

"Hello," Nate said, trying not to sound too enthusiastic. However, there was no answer. "Julian?"

"Yeah." Julian replied from the other end of the phone.

Nate breathed a sigh of relief. "What's wrong? You haven't slept yet?"

"Did I wake you up?"

"No, I haven't slept yet. Did something happen?"

There was a pause for a moment. All Nate could hear was Julian's breathing.

"Julian?"

"Nothing. I just finished work," said Julian. "I thought you would be looking for me since I didn't contact you for days."

"I did wondering where you went, but I thought you were busy. So, I didn't wanna bother you."

Julian murmured. "I can't sleep."

"Do you want me to stay with you? You can spend the night here." Nate asked all of a sudden. She was shocked to have made such an offer.

Julian was silent for a moment. "It's okay, you just go to sleep. Sorry for keeping you awake."

"Not at all. It's such a pleasant to hear your voice," said Nate.

"Well then, I'll hang up. Good night."
