Two ladies sat together having tea under an elaborate and expensive chandelier illuminating yellow light in the large living room. One of the ladies dressed in a luxury silk floral saree and the other in a simple Punjabi suit.

"So, Almas. You were saying there was something important you wanted to talk about?" Hadiya asked, keeping her poise and sipping her chai.

Almas slurped her tea whole and leaned to place it on the glass and marble coffee table. She leaned back, wiping her mouth with the edge of her dupatta.

"Yes, Hadiya. No offense, but—"

"Hmm." She touched her diamond stud, then held the cup handle once again, - "Go on."

Almas sighed, - "Fareeha's papa is—" She hesitated, wrapping her index finger with her red dupatta, - "telling to start looking for alliances for her."

"What?" Hadiya's eyes widened. Hurriedly, she placed the saucer and cup on the tray and fell back on the off-white leather couch, fixing the pallu of her saree, - "But, we had decided that my son and your daughter will be married. Since our school days, when we used to play with dolls and—"

"Hadiya, our school days are over. And, we are not kids anymore. Your son is now a superstar in India and globally. He is just doing time-pass with actresses and models. For how long will I keep my daughter waiting? After all, her age is passing and she won't be young anymore. Who will marry her?"

Hadiya bit her lip, she adjusted in her seat, - "Almas, dear, please. Hadi will settle with Fareeha."

"Currently, he is with Leila."

"Arey, you know na, these Bollywood relationships. Just time pass."

Almas's cheeks flushed in anger, - "In his time pass, he is passing my daughter's time as well. Fareeha is pagal, and she is wasting her time behind him. Her father isn't in favor of marrying her in your controversial family." She shot up from her seat.

"Thanks for the tea, Hadiya. I had come here to inform you of this. Now, my next visit of me will be with the wedding card. In shaa Allah!"

Hadiya sat rooted in her seat. Once Almas turned and walked off, she gripped the handle tightly, sinking her nails into the leather fabric of the sofa.
