Paris's weather in early November was mildly cold. They needed a sweater and a little layering. Landing there, Fareeha felt the chills, but Sarfaraz was quick to point out that cool, and rainy winters are best for honeymoons. To which she added that honeymoon was for the couple to know each other, and not to bang-bang. He laughed at her statement.
Fareeha was in awe of the view of the Eiffel Tower from the luxury suite Sarfaraz had booked for them.
"Since we will be spending most of our time here." He paused, meeting her glare, then added, - "Getting to know each other. I thought this view would be the best."
Fareeha walked into the attached small balcony, and Sarfaraz sat at the beige chair, throwing his arm behind the golden carved back. He tilted his head to the side, admiring her expressions.
Fareeha stared out. The sun setting over the gorgeous building enhanced its beauty. Soon, the lights will go on. The best part is the bed next to the balcony, and from her side, she can sleep watching it and wake up to it.
Sarfaraz got up and stood beside her. He placed his hand over hers. Fareeha looked at him, but he kept looking ahead at the monument. She blinked away, slipping her hand from under his.
"We should order something."
"I will make coffee." Sarfaraz turned, removed his jacket, and tossed it on the bed. Fareeha turned back to face the stunning city of Paris. Her mother's words reminded her.
You have always forgiven Hadi. Forgive him again. One last time.
She sighed.
Forgivinghim all her life has brought her into this situation. The sad reality of her lifewas that her best friend was ungrateful.
A few minutes later, Sarfaraz came with two mugs of coffee. He handed one to her, but didn't stop looking at her. Fareeha straightened.
"How is Dania's mother?"
Sarfaraz lowered his head, resting his cup against the railing, - "You are asking the wrong person."
She turned her head.
"Adil is her husband. He must be knowing."
Fareeha scoffed.
"You must be bumped that she dumped you and married him." She gave him a victorious smile, - "Like I had been warning you."
He doesn't reply. Placing a hand on his white trousers, he takes a sip of his coffee.
"Acha hua. You deserved it."
Sarfaraz looked up, - "True. I don't deserve you, either." He said with a hint of emotional touch.
"Correct. Why did you bind me in this lifelong baggage?"
"Then, leave me," Sarfaraz said simply. Fareeha sharply turned her head.
He shrugged, - "I mean, no one is asking you to be bonded. I know your father—and I am willing to sacrifice my reputation for that." He placed his hand over his chest.
