Too Stubborn to Love, 'Til I Met You

CHAPTER 15

"I'm on position." I said through my ear piece.

The reason why I'm in this hotel right now is because one of the agents were ambushed and I was called for backup and a few more others that were on their positions right now.

I was now on the balcony in one of where the grand hall is located at. The fifth floor of a five start hotel. A banquet was held here. Not just some old fancy and normal looking banquets that you would think is full of high class people.

More like illegal drug dealers and a few people who is involved in human trafficking.

My outfit was just as the same one as I used to take on James.

I know I may already look suspicious, but non even tried to glance at me. This was normal. I mean, most even had like a bag of drug that was already visual to me. It's really funny of how they just do it casually.

A man then approached me. He looked quite...decent. He was a little bit fat though not gonna lie. He was wearing a suit and had a glass of what looked like liquor on his right hand and pointed at me.

"I haven't seen you before. Are you new?" he asked casually. Man, what was up with them acting all casual. Was it because they were so confident that everyone here are the same or because the one who holds the entire hotel was also too a drug dealer? Either way, I didn't respond quickly. After a few moments, I nodded before my vocal agreement.

"Yes, I am. This is actually quite a shock. I never knew that we will actually hold a banquet here." I said and looked at the banquet hall, leaning on the cement rails of the balcony.

"It's just a normal thing we usually do", he paused and looked at me from head to toe before continuing. "So, what do you do?"

He might have meant, my kind of job.

"I own my own bar. Although I just started, it's been busy." I said with a slight smile on my lips. He nodded his head and looked at me with intrest.

"It probably has a great quality due to it being busy. If you know what I mean." he chuckled and sipped on his liquor.

"I do. And I might say, they do look great." I agreed. It was all a lie though, I mean, who would take entertainment be a good quality'? By I mean entertainment, meaning the girls.

"If you have nothing else to do, I would like you to meet the others." he waved his hand to the banquet.

"I would love to, but unfortunately, I cannot. I'm still waiting for my friend to come and meet me. I have to discuss something with him. And it's pretty urgent." I said. This time I was telling the truth.

"I see... Well, I'll see you then." he said and left.

Soon after that, my ear piece started making noises and the next was followed by a man's voice.

"The others had been found. They're not in the banquets VIP. Rather in an actual room." the man reported.

"I'm on my way. Tell me the directions." I started walking out, trying my best to not be seen.

I successfully got out of the banquet hall and soon the man recited the directions.

"Turn left then you'll see another turn, go through there."

I did as he said and soon he warned me that there were guards that was looking out of the room I'm about to go in.

"You'll have to get through. If not they'll already loose their limbs if we don't take action."

I took a long deep breath before running out of the corner and fought the three guards. They looked like they had been in a lot of training, but I don't care since they're using it to guard criminals.

They had no match for me due to my fast and swift moves. Once I had finished them all, the door swung open and revealed a man that had a large scar on the side of his cheek.

I punched him in the gut and well, he collapsed before even making a fight. Soon, I found out that there were even more men inside the room and I was furious to the man that called me in the earpiece for not warning me.

Well, it's not like anything I can't handle.

I finished all ten men inside using every equipment inside the room. Smashing it to their heads that left them drop on the ground pathetically.

I then found one of the men that were supposed to finish this mission. There were five of them. All of them were tied together. They then all cheered and I just rolled my eyes.

After untying them all up, I scolded them for being so reckless.

"I'll continue this later. Right now, we have to take those people." I then pressed a button on my earpiece and told the other back ups that we're ready.

Soon we heard gunshots and all ran back to the banquet hall. Everyone of the people there were panicking. Looking like some ants that got scared after their home got stopped on. Except for the people that were with me.

"Great job Shan! You can go home now. Sorry for disturbing you date though..." my dad said looking down.

I almost forgot about that.

"It's okay, sir. It wasn't important. Besides, he's still on the progressing stage. Nothing too serious. Besides, I don't actually take these seriously." I said in a formal way.

My dad waved his hand at me.

"Oh come on. Don't tell me you're just gonna do the same to the others. Just give him a chance at least. It's been so long I've seen you in an actual relationship." he protested and I just scoffed.

"Sir, if it's necessary, I will. I have already dedicated my whole life for being your top agent here. So please, me and that Alex are a nobody. End of story."

"I know...but now he's pursuing you. For real this time."

"Sir, it's been 3 years since he told me his plan. And to tell you the truth, the old feelings I felt before are already fading. I've lost intrest."

"Hah...at least one of you had one...." he sighed in defeat. Lee is already married with his girl and now, they're expecting a baby. I'm happy for them. But I never envied such things.

"You just want your grand childs. Sorry but I guess Lee is the only one who can give you those." I teased.

"Well, my point is. I just don't want to see you lonely once I have my time... that's all."

"I'll be fine sir. Besides, sooner or later you'll have to step down and I'll be the one to take over this whole agency. It's best that I don't have any distractions." I said, insisting on not having my own lover. I was already content with my life.

"Alright then... meeting dismissed."

When I got back home, I rummaged my thoughts. Thinking of the past and looking at the present now.

I may have started to have feelings for him. Even sharing his obsession. Me obsessing over him and him over me. He had done so many things to win me over and well...let's just say it worked.

But ever since that last encounter in Hawaii, I realized that my feelings for Alex was fading. Maybe because I had been used to being alone already and was content on having just family and friends.

But now, I guess I really am going to live alone. Besides, if I don't make a heir to myself. Lee's child will. Soon, the generation will continue on.
