XLIII. Dark Horizons
Sunspear
284 A.C.Cassandra could not help but laugh at her husband's urgency.
"Oberyn!" She reprimanded playfully, calling his name out lovingly as he pulled her along to their chambers, their steps noisy against the stone floors of the keep.
They had just come from dinner at the great hall, an event where the entire family comes together to share in the meal.
Once Oberyn had made a full recovery, Doran had invited them to dinner and it has long since become a weekly affair.
It helped the children a lot as it allowed them to put to rest the bad memories that plagued them since the dreaded attack of the masked men.
The brothers had talked through their differences since then and all was as it was. Oberyn took his place as uncle and another parent to his nieces and nephews.
With Cassandra at his side, though they could not replace the children's mother, they served as a balm for that pained wound.
Throughout that night's dinner, Oberyn's hand reached out for Cassandra's any moment he could and his lips sought hers at every chance he would get.
She could only laugh into her wine as Oberyn shoveled the lemon pie into his mouth in his haste to get the meal over with. She was glad that he was feeling much better.
His recovery, while it was counted swift, had been a taxing journey for her husband. He had to get used to the feeling of using his arm once again and for a warrior who favored his right, it had been especially frustrating.
Cassandra had been at his side every step of the way. From changing his bandages, accompanying him to training with Owain, and even helping him write his missives, she was there for him.
It had only brought them ever so closer to one another. While they had not emerged from the attack unscathed, having their little family reunited overshadowed all else.
Once they had excused themselves from dinner and bid Owain good night, Oberyn had wasted no time whatsoever as he pulled her along to their chambers.
As soon as they arrived, Oberyn pulled her inside before shutting their door with a distinct lock and surging toward her to pull her into a passionate kiss.
Her arms found their way around his neck as she leaned into their kiss. After weeks of depriving themselves of the pleasure, they almost felt drunk on the feeling.
