XLV. Den of Lions
King's Landing
284 A.C."Gods, I can't believe we're back here."
Cassandra peered out the glass windows of their shared cabin, the gentle movement of the ship against the waves not deterring her from gazing out at the view of the Red Keep.
Though they were still a distance away, she could already spot the towering spires of the famous structure, looming over the rest of King's Landing.
"After this instance, I would much rather prefer we never come back here at all." Oberyn interjected, coming to stand behind her and wrapping his arms around her waist.
"Still, it will be good to be back on solid land. I do not know about you but I was getting tired of salted fish." She admitted with a smile, leaning her head back against his bare chest.
They had left Sunspear a few weeks ago, their ship fully readied for their journey to King's Landing. While they had encountered no storms, traveling for days on end could take a toll on a person.
The previous time she had traveled to Dorne, she had been accompanied by Lord Arryn and Owain. Thankfully, Oberyn and Owain were a much better combination to travel with.
To ensure that they would not get sick of staying in a stuffy cabin all day, they had spent their mornings on deck, soaking up the sun and even playing games.
In the afternoons, they would try their hand at finding different sea creatures. Owain had been proud of himself for seeing some dolphins among the crystal-blue waters.
They had even gone fishing for dinner on some days. It was a good respite eating freshly caught cod than the fermenting fish they kept in their stores.
No matter how good the journey was as they were able to spend it together, part of Cassandra simply wished to arrive at their dreaded destination to get it over with so they could go back home.
He hummed thoughtfully, pressing a kiss to her temple. "How are you feeling?"
She thought about it for a moment before shrugging. "Nervous, I suppose."
He turned her around to face him, arching a brow at her response. "You suppose?"
She admitted, wincing as she remembered the circumstances of her departure. "I left King's Landing quite dramatically."
She could still recall the rumors that surrounded her when she left. After all, she had caused a scene in the throne room, shouting at Tywin Lannister and then attacking his daughter in the gardens.
When she had left, she was infamous. For all the wrong reasons, of course, but still well-talked about.
He tilted his head, eyes alight with curiosity. "You've mentioned that. What do you mean?"
