~Chapter 14~

Was it inappropriate to consider someone in this way all the time?to desire to be with them all the time? , Feraye didn't know what these feelings meant, but she knew they had to end. She didn't want a relationship given how her previous one ended—she wasn't even sure it ended—but she had made a promise to herself that she wouldn't have feelings for anyone else other than Yaman. Despite the numerous times he had hurt her, she couldn't imagine her life without him, but Ates had always been kind to her and a dependable, awesome friend. For that, she was greatful, but she knew that's all they could ever be "friends.".

And she had come to terms with the fact that she didn't give a damn as long as her child was safe, even though she still puzzled over why the idea of suppressing her growing feelings for Ates made her chest hurt so much. Is it possible that he holds such great significance for her? She doubled it, but she couldn't help but wonder what could have happened if they had married in a different situation and if she would have still loved him.And most all, would he have loved her?

He was only a friend helping her out, and that's all he will ever be, and there was nothing she could do about it. These ideas were torturing her, and she had to stop thinking about them and about him in general.

She took a deep breath as she approached her home's doorstep and entered the room where Ates was waiting for her. She had made the decision to tell her family about their engagement; she didn't want to put it off any longer. She wanted Ates there because she knew that if he was there, her brother wouldn't be able to object, yell at her, or even try to hit her , which she knew he did out of love for her but she couldn't bear anymore.

Feraye loved her brother with all her heart and knew all he had ever tried to do since their mother tragically passed away was protect her, but she couldn't deny the fact that he sometimes overreacted and always got upset over the smallest things, and she was tired of being the cause of it.

"Are you okay?" Ates asked her with a smile as she approached him.

"Yes," she answered as she intervened, their hands together, and they made their way inside.

"Let's do this," she whispered.

As they entered, they found her father sitting in the backyard, drinking his tea as he does every day. A small smile appeared on Ates's face, which then made Feraye's heart skip a beat. Why did he have to be so charming all the time?

"Good evening,Muhsin Amca" he said as he approached him and took her father's hand in his .

" Ates " her father happily said ." It's been so long you finally came back after all these years, it's good to see you " he added with the biggest smile on his face.

Feraye hasn't seen her Father this happy since forever,it filled her heart with joy seeing him smiling even if it were for just a second .

Her surprise was evident when Ates turned to face her and clasped her hand.
"We have some news to share with you, Muhsin Amca," With a glance in her direction, he remarked, "Feraye and I have been talking for several months now while I was back in the United States. We kept in touch and we started developing feelings for each other."

Her heart started beating so fast.... Why did he have to stare at her like that?

"I am present here to request Feraye's hand in marriage. I love her and cannot imagine my life without her; she makes me want to be a better person. My only desire is for her to be happy, as her happiness would mean the world to me." He continued still looking at her with those profound brown eyes of his .

Please let me marry your lovely daughter; I swear to do everything in my power to make her happy."

"Ates — With both of their hands in his palm, her father remarked, "My son, nothing would make me happier than to see my daughter happy. Fear my daughter; if this is what you want, then you have my blessings."
