Looking at me with a hint of concern, and a hint of a spark in her blue hazel eyes, I could tell that she thought I had something "sweet" to say, but little did she know it was the total opposite.
"Say it sweetie, what can't you wait to tell me?" She coyly asked.
Taking a deep breath, I grabbed one of her tiny hands in mine. Not wanting to look her directly in the eye, I slightly put my head down.
Immediately, with a hint of seriousness, she nudged me.
"Talk to me love; what is it?" She said ever so sweetly.
"Remember those x-rays you looked at? You know, the ones you received in New York?" I lowly asked.
"Yes. The ones from the doctor I once worked with, what about 'em?"
"Well, I happen to know that doctor." I stated.
Giving me a strange look, she slightly squinted.
"Please tell me you didn't call that man trying to find out who those x-rays belonged to." Her nostrils slightly flared.
Still holding my head slightly down, I exhaled in unison with the words that came out of my mouth next.
"I didn't have to because they belong to me." I lowly said.
There was a deafening silence that immediately filled the air.

I was stunned. My ears must've been deceiving me. Looking at our intertwined hands, Prince never lifted his head as my stare was burning a hole through his side profile.
His grip around my hand was tight, as if he was a child afraid of letting go. I however was so pissed, I wanted to knock his head off! For some reason however, Frank's words immediately entered my thoughts: You can curse him out, but don't hit him Baby Doll.
"Look at me." I squinted at him.
Not only would he not turn his head toward me, he didn't even move his eyes that stayed locked on our hands. Realizing that he wouldn't even look me in the face, it suddenly clicked to me...he was ashamed.
My heart quickly softened and my anger slightly subsided. Gently prying one of my hands out of his grip, I touched his chin and softly turned his head to face me. Looking me directly in the eyes, he would not do. Regardless, I said what he needed to know.
"There is no shame between us, only love, and I need you to look in my eyes to see it." I softly spoke.
When our eyes met, he deeply exhaled as his eyes slightly watered.
"I am sorry you're going through this, but I'm glad that you finally told me. I am angry, but my anger will never override my love for you. Please let this be the last time you keep something like this from me. Promise me." I pleaded.
"I promise." Prince voice cracked.
In that moment, I just wrapped my arms around him. Falling into my embrace, we held each other knowing that we now had a renewed understanding. After being embraced for a moment longer, I gently kissed his cheek as I pulled away, but Prince kept me close.
"How bad am I?" He asked.
Now looking into each other eyes, I could see his worry regarding those x-rays.
"Horrible." I answered.
Prince eyes slightly enlarged.
"Could you at least give me some type of hope?" He said, in a tone of disbelief.
