"My patience with your mouth is at an all-time low! You sir are the initial reason for me being here and your disrespect toward my Goddaughter ends right now! Say another disrespectful, sarcastic or disgruntle word about her, and my sons and I will drag your foul mouth ass for the filth you are."
Hakeem and his sons were closing in on Kirk in military like precision. Upon hearing the door open, his sons turned around while still guarding their father as he stayed focused on Kirk.
"Hey, hey...what's going on?" Gerard worryingly asked.
Hakeem and Kirk were now standing toe-to-toe. For the first time I realized just how physically unmatched Kirk was. Even though Hakeem stood over Kirk by a mere two inches, his vexed energy was at least 10 feet tall.
"Do you think it's okay to degrade a woman and physically threaten her in front of her son?" Hakeem asked him.
Kirk eyes were becoming laced with fear, but his pride wouldn't allow him to be intimidated. Too bad that it wasn't a damn thing I could do to help, because Ms. Agnes was giving me a look to stay out of it.
"Jeanette and I squashed that." Kirk said to Hakeem.
"And I just rehashed it, so allow me to explain something to you. I will break your jaw if you ever speak another unworthy word to her, and if you ever feel brave enough to physically threaten or intimidate her, I will personally see to it that your funeral directly follows. Are we clear?"
Kirk defiantly stood there not saying a word, but Hakeem wasn't having it. Grabbing Kirk by the neck, he hit his head up against the wall.
"I said are we clear?!" Hakeem gritted.
"Hakeem please!....Oh my God!" Both Ms. Agnes and Celeste said simultaneously.
Gerard tried to come to Kirk's rescue, but Hakeem's sons blocked him off by becoming a shoulder-to-shoulder wall.
Not saying a word, I noticed that Hakeem's hand squeezed around Kirk's neck a little tighter.
"Are we clear, or would you rather finish discussing this with your creator?" Hakeem asked as he continued to squeeze.
Seeing Kirk's face turning red, I felt compelled to speak.
"I will not tolerate this—"
"You have no choice; your friend must bear this burden on his own Mr. Nelson. Please sit down." Hakeem's youngest son respectfully demanded.
"Bilal, lock the door." Hakeem said as Kirk face now began to change colors.
"Naw man, this isn't right!" Gerard said standing in front of the door not allowing Bilal to lock it.
"Sir, please move before you find yourself in the same predicament as your friend." Bilal said.
Upon making that statement, I noticed an oncoming smirk appear on his brother's face. It was beyond apparent that the younger brother was ready for either Gerard or myself to give him a reason to put his hands around someone's neck as well. Hakeem and his sons were definitely of a different caliber than what I was used to dealing with.
"Everybody calm down. Hakeem, loosen your grip and give Kirk a chance to let you know that the two of you are clear...please!" Ms. Agnes begged.
Giving Kirk a quick shove, Hakeem slightly loosened his grip. As soon as he did so, Kirk began to cough and grasp for air. With Hakeem still having a hold on him, Kirk finally spoke up.
"We're clear man, we're clear!" Kirk said in between coughs.
As Kirk continued to cough, Hakeem let him go with a shove and straighten himself out.
